  1. good work bro looked like an awsome job and site!
  2. Martin - Modified Class 1 is what some splicers use on the original 8mm AP to keep burys short for e2e, Basically its just making the burys slighty longer to compensate for the different material the core is made out of, Im sure Drew will elaborate as I believe he uses this splice (and may have come up with the idea) often. Good work Bruce, practice practice practice that is the key! oh and also break testing for piece of mind! I found the class 2 a bit annoying having to re- insert the cover to bury it on the inside but got there in the end, dont really use this splice much to be honest but looks like your well on your way
  3. If you back up the RW with a fig 8 or similar you can descend on the fig 8 instead... I find this works well on large descents and saves a lot of hitch cord too
  4. Thanks Ian Nah i didn't have the vented back on, should have thinking back as you said it steams up a bit. Might try some anti fog inserts see how they go

  6. nice work dak! Keep them coming!
  7. Deer man, I have noticed that as you ascend up using the RW sometimes your hitch can 'un-dress' itself and then when u go to sit back on the hitch it can slip and its not set properly, also while in an ascent if u hit a small branch and sit back onto the hitch the branch can sometimes push the RW into the hitch forcing it to push the hitch down resulting in a decent... just my opinion on what could've happened

    Kony 2012

at the end of the day, whether you think its a 'stupid' idea or not, if it works will it not be worth it? Of all the children that are taken and forced to become child soldiers, and forced to do things, isn't anything that helps to stop this a good thing? If this global push, ends up with the imprisonment of Joesph Kony will this not have been worth the effort?

    awsome vid bro!
  17. I agree, I have also had a similar experience with a dirty mac, use wing cuts alot more thanks to the experience!
  18. when doing crane work i use 3 main cutting techniques - the first is a step cut, first cut made apporx 70% through then second cut made under first cut over lapping it. The second is what I know as a crane cut, cutting 90% through the side away from the climber, then cutting at a 45degree angle downwards meeting the first cut, which leaves a small notch to stop the section coming backwards and into the climber. The third technique is used when standing up lateral limbs, a scarf is placed in top side followed by wing cuts, a back cut is started along with the crane lifting the limb, holding wood is left until the limb is vertical or ready to be lifted out, at this point the holding wood is cut clear and limb lifted out. The only time I apply wing cuts in crane removals is when standing limbs up using the third technique mentioned above. With the other two techniques i believe wings cuts are not necessary as the cuts meet or over lap so no bark or holding wood is left to hold up the limb. MOG - when you were doing your step cuts were you leaving some 'holding wood' between them, is that why you were using wing cuts? Cheers
  19. ahh, cut in the rope was going to be my second guess! The new splice and AP look good!
  20. Cheers Haha nah she'll be right, bita tape and you'll be away! But in all seriousness how did it happen, drop testing?
  21. I think that you wouldn't use a carab/revoler as it will side load, especially on larger stems... just my thoughts
