  1. Hi there,

I work for Downer Tree Services, In the Wellington area, Based in Lower Hutt. We do council work, from street trees, reserves, notable and historic trees, also a project crew that mainly does large scale removals using cranes and diggers.

  2. Theres a vacancy at the company i work for in Wellington.... let me know if your interested, could sort something out
  3. how many of those splices have you done bro? Look pretty interesting, can you modify it so you can bury the cover so you done have to whip it to the side?
  4. Good definitions bro, samson has some really good resources.. alot of downloads through their website you guys should check it out
  5. two positions at the company I work for in Wellington
  6. Hey, Ive done a couple of class 2 splices on AP but its no good if your going to be using them for prussic's as the bury is about 2x as long a class 1 splice. When i splice AP e2e I use class 1 DB splice but just adjust the bury's and make them slightly longer to compensate. Also when your using in a climbing setup both eyes on the AP will terminate at the same point so both eyes share the load so class 1 DB splice will be plenty strong enough Drew has done a heap of testing and in a climbing set up the hitch slips underload (about 1.5T i think) so to actually get something to break you have to tie a stopper knot under the pulley/hitch so that it doesn't slip.. hope this info helps, Im sure Drew will post a heap more
  7. ha only 1! so have to use a pinto aswell!! think there might be another at work though
  8. Looks like another way to do a core dependent splice to me
  9. Thought you might've put a couple of pic's of the retrievable redi u came up with bro:001_tt2:.. the one that uses a ropeman and a trango cinch..
  10. Nice whipping! I always seem to get lazy and not put it right up near the throat of the splice! Nice work
  11. yeah pretty sure, that's why is has poly core
  12. I've made a couple of these, a cheaper option if you have someone who will splice it for you only costs are pulley, shackel and cord, oh and probably some beers for the splicing
  13. Yeap spliced up a couple e2e's here's a pic, new AP(orange/red and black) and snake skin all standard class 1 DB
  14. yeah the new AP is sweet basically the same except poly core, trying some at the mo
  15. I like the custom splice.. might have to give that one ago
  16. I use AP 8mm e2e on 12mm xtc. Been using AP for a while now, I prefer it over 8mm bee line
  17. I also use Blaze through my cinch, seems to do the trick haven't tried anything else yet
  18. yeap sure does bro! And yeah I agree any cord except sirius!
  19. hey there, Yeap I spliced it on to a pinto, it came up good but I wouldn't use sirius again, its a real mission to splice! To get the second eye finished, I milked it as much as I could and then I put a prussic at about on the sirius about halfway and used this as a new anchor and finished milking the eye in (hope that makes sense?) also what Drew said, hitting/massaging the throat of the splice helps this process. As for the bunching up, as Drew said cut if off and start again or milk it back out and try again. Also making sure the crossover point is tight and not coming loose is important. Oh and I find AP much, much easier to splice than sirius! Hope that helps, good luck!
  20. you could always just splice the cord straight onto the pinto, that way there's no knots
  21. nice work bro, the new labels look good!
