  1. I also have recieved a replacement pinto from Treetools | tree climbing, rigging, pruning and safety equipment
  2. Thanks Chris, Yes I have returned the Pinto and it will be sent to DMM I hope that you guys can sort the problem if you have not already done so. I will be interested to see if the bearing is still intact. I really love the Pinto pulleys, both of them. I use mine almost on a daily basis in more than one configuration. I think the you guys are/have defiantly advanced the gear we all use, especially with the, Treemotion, Hitchclimber, Pinto's and Impact Blocks just to name a few I didn't mean to start anything negative by posting what has happened to my pinto I was just interested if it had happened to anyone else. Thanks for the comment and keep up the great work
  3. Best friction cord by far!
  4. Hey Taylor, I will try washing the pinto as you have suggested but once the pulley is weighted and I descend/ascend I can feel the pulley grinding and then the sheave/wheel stops rotating so I think the bearing might be stuffed, Ill definitely clean it etc , will be really happy if its just something stuck in the pulley, its a great piece of kit! Ill have another go and see if any metal filings/shavings appear. Also the damage is on the side of the sheave(wheel), on the inside of the sideplate... is this were your pinto is wearing?
  5. Yeah Ill just wait Drew Im sure it'll get sorted Atree - Had it since February 22nd so almost 3 months Liam - Ill just wait Im pretty sure it'l be sorted soon enough, thanks though Thanks for all the help guys
  6. any one know about nay kind of warrenty on the pinto pulleys?
  7. good work browncow, I started using a spacer a few weeks ago but I think it must have been to late in my situation. BUt yes I think you may be right in thinking that, that is what is causing the wear/damage on the pinto. Seems odd though, As I re-call in Taylor's vid on pinto pulleys, he showed a config where he tied to ends of the prussic off to either side of the pulley to make a loop allowing him the choke the pinto onto a single line as a floating anchor.... correct in me if Im wrong, I haven't watched it in a while
  8. Haha yeah lets hope! I can't use mine anymore, it has a really bad grinding noise like the bearing has collapsed, when i hang on it and descend or ascend I can feel something grinding not to good, let me know if you find out whats up with it
  9. yeah was pretty gutting aye bro, not sure if its from the retrieval shackle though. I think Drew has had the same problem. Rich from Tree Tools is looking into it for the moment hope he has some luck as to why this is happening.
  10. yeah can't use it anymore, so its just for decortaion
  11. Nah it hasn't been dropped on retrieval, I use my throw line to retrieve and I havent shock loaded or overloaded it that I am aware of, Its only few months old aswell, I can only think of side load pulley maybe against trunk of tree and squeezed pulley together causing it to rub and in the end causing bearing to fail, but yeah, glad its got rated becket
  12. Here are the pics of my damaged pinto, also sounds like the bearing is broken also as there is a grinding noise when under load I was hoping there was just a little stone or something stuck in it but seems to be completely stuffed Third pic is of side that isn't damaged
  13. Nice work there Drew, I found some damage on one of my pinto's:thumbdown:, Ill take some pix today and post after work , The damage is on the side of the pulley wheel, like its been side loaded and rubbed against the side plate on the pulley.. Just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem?
  14. yeah was pretty bad really, lucky there wasn't more fatalities
  15. Yeah I agree with Drew. Oh yeah and anyone no what they use in the Treemagineers pullysaver to keep the eye open?
  16. unbelievable! I couldn't believe it when I herd this avo.. Hope every one ok, good for the guys up there bit of storm damage to clean up
  17. Nice work Taylor, loving the Impact blocks and other DMM gear! What lowering device does your groundsman use?
  18. Yeah ive snapped a few needles but that was cause i tried going really close up by the eye on some blaze i spliced.. as i was pushing needle through it bent, I dont go as close any more but still try and get as close as possible. Im not to sure about low loads e.g splices pulling out as I haven't had any splices pull out. But as far as I'm aware the purpose of whipping/ lock stitching is to stop the splice moving under low loads. Under high loads, if anything wouldn't the splice get tighter... keep up the good work guys!
  19. Nice work browncow.. looks good! maybe try make whipping closer to the eye:001_tt2: I have done the same with my lanyard, some pix are on bottom of page 48 couple back. Blaze is nice to splice! keep it up
  20. why use standard pinto for RG and not RIG?
