  1. And if we're honest wit you, that barns made chainsaw/general farm noise longer than the new houses have been standing, no doubt.
  2. Ask the local idiots if they'd rather have occasional noise from your saw, or gypsies upto all sorts, including maybe pinching their stuff. I reckon they might hear a distant noise that is not classic fm or their own voice and be in disgust. Some people just have nothing better to do Sticking up a wooden cabin and getting a grant for it might help pay towards the cost of swapping from agri use to industrial. I have no idea of the costs, but I bet its not cheap
  3. Insurance is another industry like banking, and newspapers/media that have had a field day in scandal for the last decade. Only insurers are somehow getting away with it since no-one can stop them. I reckon the only people who can make them fall is themselves. Maybe find someone on here with next to no no-claims insuring a crewcab tipper for like 700 quid, is about 24 and any driver - I have seen this on here somewhere, please come foreward. If everyone was given the policy number details for them to call it up on the screen when u phone them. If they say no we cannot match that policy price, even though they acknowlege it then they are surely braking trading standards. Complain to the right organisation / trading standards body / fair trade comission and something might be done.
  4. There'll be all the wind in the world this week coming. As my ford is off the road due to being undrivable. I've ordered a new tyre since the garages I'd go to haven't any in, and its on back order
  5. Hiya. I'm not sure which forum this should go on, but which ever it is I am sticking it here, as I think the most people will see it here. I hope that makes sense. I even spent half an hour surfing through the script to see what the programmer classed a gallon as, and its rightly 4.5 litre. Some people say 5 for lazyness, but its inacurate. http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php This tool should come in use for pricing log runs or milage for a job.
  6. I don't know. Them 3 seaters can carry some weight more than a crew cab. It looks like theres only one half of it on show, the rest might be trailered?
  7. That looks very fake! from the advert they don't really say much other than it is a stihl. But the picture alone doesn't really look like one, it looks a bit skinny. On the other hand they might be genuinly thinking its a stihl because it my say that on the bar - some people can be a bit simple.
  8. Can't you use them lenses to get a photo with a really deep depth of field, as well as really shallow?
  9. or south yorkshire
  10. ow then its decision time and I could do with your help here. I have just accuired enough timber and pallets to make a shelter for my wood/logs. The question is, would I be better off buying one of 6 x 3m Polytunnel Greenhouse Poly Tunnel Pollytunnel | eBay them poly tunnels and dry it that way with the door flaps tied open 24/7 to allow air flow? Its probably the biggest I have room for and the most I could afford at the moment. The one thing that would worry me is how to keep the high humidity at bay. Maybe have a solar powered fan in there or something? Sorry if this post seems a little oddly worded. I type most of mine in the night, where I might not quite type what I mean do to insomia . Thanks
  11. I hope the dustbin lorry dies on my street corner, at 5 past 7 in the mornin. I would not be able to get by it, and before anyone at work might ask.. my motorbike battery is flat . Or better still the council depot gate lock seizes. Might not be goin in tuesday either, if that were to happen. The council would still pay us for them 2 days if the lock packed in and the job was off Ah, in my dreams I'm not that lucky thanks to that damn lock
  12. Is that what they drive where you live? ****** and general upto no good people have gypsy rolls royces around the town where I live
  13. How many years no claims do you all have, mind me asking?
  14. People like you, me and others should get all these pulled transits and trucks. Why waste a sound vehicle when you could take it off them for no tax, insurance and test and sell it for 1000 quid or something? Bloody wasteful! As punishment, maybe they should be forced to work for you for free for so long to replace what they pinched, if you get me
  15. 3ltr ranger sounds nice, nothing wrong with ford really What sort of engine is it? I heard a rumour they were having the option of fittin a more agri engine, which would be better for those towing mower decks, etc. Rather than a normal car orientated engine that might burn out at 5mph for 2 hours. One thing to check is the ratio on the axle diff. I'd go for a low ratio as it'll help pulling a lot of weight and be better off road. Newer ones tend to be higher as it gives better fuel consumption, but can make moving weight more difficult. Not really the game with these sort of vehicles, though, is it?
  16. Thats a nice foden. Has it got a diesel v8 or the big 7 banger?I have no hgv license for one of them or a 5 tonner ( or the need / money), but I can drive a tractor on my car license ( as is my understanding for 24 year olds, new license etc), provided its under a certain weight. Whats the maximum distance you can travel? I've been told 15 miles but I hope it'd be 20, for conveniance. Also, does depending what you have registered its use for reflect on the license you'd need?
  17. yes but its the renting part, not actually using one to power yourself part. Turbines might be ok if you ran your electricals off a 12 volt system like on canal boats or a caravan / mobile home. However if its 240 of the finest, I'd scrap the wind turbine in favor of solar, or maybe a hydro turbine if you've a river or large stream, but that'd be a pain in the arse to do with planning and making a mill pond, though maybe fun
  18. Its a electric clarke from machine mart Clarke Log Buster 5 (4 Tonne Log Splitter) - Machine Mart Someone I work with has got one and rates it, but he usually gets little stuff for it. I'm still building a big hydraulic splitter for big stuff elsewhere, but this might get me through this year - as finding parts for the big ram splitter isn't as straight forward as it might have been last year.
  19. Getting rid of the book is fair enough for me. But yell.com can be handy for finding phone numbers of what you're after. I've never advertised in there, so I can't comment on that
  20. Collect only will be the better option, someone tipping off wood where I want it might not be a good idea. Someone willing to load, or let me hand load, please
  21. Hiya. I am wanting hardwood that could be delivered or for me to collect. I want a few tons of it, around 8 inch diameter, maybe 10 inch - I'm still building my splitter, and I don't know how much poke it will have so nothing too big. I live near doncaster. Message me please if you can help Thanks
  22. sorry for sounding like it was posted backwards, I'd only just got up. I'd no n.c.b for commercial use, but about 4 years off my car. I heard from 1 or 2 in the know that it isn't entirely based on what you might be exposed to risk-wise as a business, but what said insurance firm can get off you judging by what you earn for a living. It looks like a scam to me, along with most financial industries. One of them on the phone said well its because of all these uninsured drivers, or claims. claims wise, most are made far fetched by lawyers.
  23. Last year I hunted high and low to insure a ford ranger daycab 4x4 for gardening and I got it for just over 1200 quid. Now its renewal time and they want 1500, and this is gladiator. Now I think I am being ripped off, I am sure of it as one or two tried miss-selling me cover for business use, claiming it covered own goods and hire and reward. I looked up firewood merchanting, and they wanted 2000 pounds! As if - with what I've seen some of you covered for on here, far less. What cover do you all have and how much?
  24. hiya I never got that mower. Some collector beat me to it by half a minute. If that. I've looked on ebay america and there some good ones on there, but thats the problem. They are where they are I'd have no chance to test them, and the ship might sink. One day, maybe. I've used hondas and the like before now, but none were as good as the american beast, even though the reverse wouldn't engage (I'm sure it'd be fixable). This'll annoy me til the payday after next, about them last 20 seconds. Now I'll have to make do with some dinky electric splitter, til the next one shows up

  25. Someone who I work with does a full ranger bed load for 35 quid..
