  1. I nearly fell over when I saw the prices of wood working tools but have been lucky and picked up quite a few nice tools at car boot sales and Ebay, as well as making my own http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/42049-i-gonna-froe-out.html
  2. A packet of plasters would go well with that lot IMO

  5. Well I bought the jig for the Tormek from Aird & co in Brighton for £125 all in and had a go today at a couple of pairs of blades The set you can see part sharpened were the set in the machine when I bought it but must have been sharpened by hand . The jig takes a couple of minutes to set up and although time consuming (30 minutes to do a really ruff pair) works really well. I could remove the very fine chips left but then I would loose steel so 99% is good enough. Both blades are exactly equal so no issues with balance and the system is water cooled so produces 0 heat, so no worries about loosing the temper of the steel.
  6. Yeah mine is the SUPER:adore: and the cylinder is as 46mm Thanks for all the help you guys Ill return the favour one day
  7. It was a guess that the conrod had made contact because it lines up perfectly. The cylinder has the number 1127-029 and the saw is a 1998 will I still have to measure the cylinder or will these numbers tell me weather the new piston should be 45mm 0r 46mm The engine number is +142394249 what should a cylinder measure for the 45mm and the 46 mm piston ?
  8. Cheers ill do that Whats the normal cause for a piston to wear as bad as this one, its been worn down by quite a few mm from the rings down and allowed the piston to rock enough to come into contact with the con rod Di I need instant gasket from stilh or is there an off the shelf one I can buy? Many thanks for all the help that your not only giving Me but also so many other members of the forum we all owe you enough beer to sink a battle ship
  9. Spiral round the tree as you spike up if it a nice straight butt, not sure if others do this but on large butts I have found it helps plus silky in hand you can clear stubbs rather than have flip the line over them. Or borrow a Bigshot and srt up with the aid of a pantin.
  10. The cylinder looks fine to my untrained eye so I might bung a new piston in it, seen one on flea bay for £18 the oem part is £60 . The bearings are all smooth and tight, Im just not sure what caused the problem in the first place.
  11. Suddenly 6k sounds cheap
  12. 6k! counts me out
  13. Pulled the 029 apart today The piston has been making contact with the cylinder and worn so much that the piston could rock in the cylinder, and has come into contact with the conrod. Anbody want to buy an 029 ? one carefull lady owner

  18. A bit more info might help
  19. You can avoid this happening by just selling stock items that way you make the sale while they are still keen and not after a period of weeks when they may have gone off the boil. Add some on the price you were going to charge her or she will get a friend to come in on the chance you have discounted it Heard of a woman that had a load of paint mixed and then changed her mind and walked out of the shop, her husband then went in and bought it half price:thumbdown:
  20. The saw is new to me and I didnt ask its history as it was sols as seen. I removed the exhaust and held the piston while gently turning it over and there is no play in either the big or small ends, the coil is a good idea and ill check it in the morning, as for the carbon it was only build up in the exhaust but the port was clean. Ill keep you posted
  21. You guys make a great double act
  22. Gardenkit! any chance you can help out with my question on the previous page ? I recon spuds gone up the pub
  23. Hi Spud I have a 029 super that rattles like a bag of nails when its pulled over. I have taken the exhaust off and there were large ammounts of carbon deposits other than that the piston doesnt look to bad apart from a small lip around the edge of the crown the rings seem to move in and out if pushed with a lolly stick more than I thought they should and the compression seems lower than normal, the saw seems to have done very little work and Im puzzled Plus the drive sprocket is 3/8 but the only spare bar I have is .325 would you replace the drive to .325 or replace the bar to 3/8. Any ideas would be appreciated
  24. Nice job Did you lower the last section off of a limb or the small sling ? It still makes me dizzy watching head cam vids
