  1. Chestnut Fencing - Chestnut Fencing products - Cleft Post Rail Fencing These guys might be able to help.
  2. Could I just warn that the aroma of burning paper or cardboard is completely opposite to the beautiful smell of burning wood.
  3. with the drink you take a big slurp, the sea, no thanks all that ..it in there
  4. I think the delete history may have been the answer, but I also found that in settings I had "refresh pages" set to NEVER which I have set to AUTOMATICALLY, anyway all is now working perfectly. Thanks Steve
  5. Having posted my relpy, (ie the second reply in this thread) I cannot view it by clicking the little blue "Last Post" arrow in the Todays Posts list. In fact if I do and scroll down I see the start of the thread, but the sreen updates continually taking me back to the top. I have a habit of fouling things up. Hit the jackpot this time!
  6. The thread was "What to plant for coppice", which i was viewing from the TODAYS POSTS Tab, I have managed to view that now by changing (haphazardly) to threaded view. Having spotted your reply to my thread (replies 1) , and clicking on the thread title, it takes me to my original post but this appears to having no post as I scroll down. Going back to todays posts I can see the replies in pages of ten. To see your reply, I clicked on the little Go To Last Post. Thanks for your help, Im a bit bit mystified!
  7. Can anyone explain why I cant see some posts, for example I posted a reply to one thread, now I can only see the first and last post although threre are ten replies listed? Probably me being thick somehow, all help gratefully received.
  8. Alder seems thrive in wet places, Sweet Chestnut spits in fires, so is only for for stoves, but the chestnuts are fantastic and Ive been eating them most of the day. Iv just planted some hornbeam because the leaves are a fantastic colour (or will be in years to come)
  9. Thanks
  10. as ever, poking about for an easy way out! Lazyness is a sign of efficiency. Thanks for the pointer.
  11. how many miles from Didcot to Slough?? did you know there is a powerstation there that takes chip
  12. Anyone know where to source timber bunks, I am hoping to use a flatbed trailer for moving timber on the farm, either using weld on sockets if such a thing exists, or Ive seen loads of timber flying around on artic trailers which seem to have some sort of frame. Excuse my ignorance, I am more familiar with moving bales than wood, perhaps you can put me on the right track.
  13. Ben, I think you you should try to turn this round. Wood is not worth much without a customer and picking it up only pays back your pride. His pride as an "honest gent" is what you have to play with. If you call him, say that you are not going to cash his check untill he has burnt the logs, and if when he has felt the benefit of really great quality wood he still feels he hasnt had good value then you will return his cheque and he can send a donation to his favorite charity. A few words will probably win you a loyal customer, but just dont count on it workng every time!!!! Good luck
  14. dont believe it, youll fork out some hard earned, only to find its just as painful
  15. so did they come out?? or are you still drilling
  16. Perhaps we can have a challenge to see who can come up with a useful object that is retained comfortably in the slot
  17. Sounds like I got off lightly, my mate though 50:1 was 50/50, so he didnt really get past starting the thing. Cost me a new plug and yes probably lucky nothing worse happenend
  18. good point, you would want to see that hurtling towards you in your rearview mirror.
  19. Having been once to a 4x4 event, where they seem to get stuck on purpose, they all have approved tow ropes which stretch, but when they fail they do it gradually so there is no energy in the rope to injure people. The standard proceedure seems to be to have some slack in the rope, stuck vehicle spins its wheels then the towing vehicle sets off briskly.
  20. Which grant scheme did you apply to?
  21. You might consider the story of a fridge, left at the side of the road with a sign, Free Fridge, Perfect working order, that remained where it stood untill the sign was changed to Fridge, Perfect working order, £25. It was nicked that night.
  22. is poplar what they use for matches (before fag lighters took over)?
  23. the bacteria in a composting heap are very oxygen hungry and if washed out into a watercourse can starve the residents there of oxygen
  24. loading a truck would only take a hour, so on the face of it not much, but keeping the cost down depends on it being well organized.
  25. so the point is( well maybe), if it was dropped off at a yard with a loader, how much would it be worth?
