  1. Off from actual tree work 24th to January 2 unless there’s emergency work. Lots of maintenance to do plus bits of farming etc. nice short days with no travel or hassle. I have often regretted working through Christmas when it was over, I find it good to get some time away from trees staff etc before getting stuck in to another year.

    Battery saw

I Hate those tiny chains. Got husky polesaw. Use it from basket a lot and very happy with it. will definitely get husky top hander next time I’m flush and eventually ground saw for beside chipper

Turns out cylinder can be cleaned up. where can I buy piston?
  5. Sounds like a good find.
  6. Major were importers of LASKI woodchippers and Stumpgrinders for west and maybe all of Ireland. they had a Stumpgrinder as you describe on display for ages in their agri-factors store at their factory in Mayo. Would have bought it if I had money and big grinding job at same time. Was at good price at the time, maybe 9 or ten years ago. I’m pretty sure Greenmech used to sell same machines in their own nAme at the time
  7. Is it worth the risk of falling out with with neighbors ? sure you are in the right but the stories that get around are never accurate. you could end up being branded as putting in reports because you didn’t get jobs. Your other neighbors could get wrong impression. it would be different if not so close to home.

Mechanic hasn’t phoned so I think that means cylinder knackered
  9. Ahh! That makes sense. happens in my tractor but never knew why

Anyone know if possible to get piston and cylinder for stihl 056av.? Thanks
  13. Thanks. Will try this. I have an ideal hook if I can find it
  14. Nice. Do you know price approx?
  15. Thanks. That’s pretty much what I had in mind and yes, pricey.! i Hodges something similar from aluminum and plywood and copious amounts of tech screws and cable ties. worked ok but used to bing up with sawdust in no time. Re bungee: have tried it but not comfortable with anything dangling from basket.
  16. When doing dismantles I normally have top handle and ground saw in basket. whichever saw left on basket floor gets buried in sawdust and can get in the way sometimes. is there any purpose built saw holder available or would anyone like to show one they’ve made up themselves? hope this makes sense. Thanks
  17. We used these. For driving or tracking over you’d need 9mm. 6mm not rigid enough and didn’t last that well. was going to go for 9mm but had a few nice jobs on so opted for the groundtrax ones. Having grip on both sides and slots to link them together makes a huge difference, otherwise they get moved around too easily.
  18. Would cost you around £3k plus vat to buy new. Not a bad investment. Pay for themselves in a few jobs
  19. 2.5 ton much more capable and stable. youll wonder how you ever managed without
  20. Very important to change timing belt on time. Friend of mine had one break ( same engine on a woodmizer) so much damage had to get complete new engine. also beware overheating. I had head gasket go in one once , skimmed too much off head and couldn’t time injectors after. always avoided lombardini after that
  21. Wondering if op found winch cable and where from? thanks
  22. Ashford Castle walled garden. hundreds of years old, built by the Guinness family
  23. Had broken at 5 feet and fallen down from a bank of laurel so no great view of it , mashed some nice Japanese maples on its way
  24. More storm damage clearance. Access too tight for trailer so 6 transit loads of chip and 13 loads of timber from one tree in formal garden. Local woodcarver working on beech stump. Talented guy!
  25. You’ll need a press I’m fairly sure. i always took out flywheel and brought into agri-eng workshop. my Tw dealer told me it’s not difficult to make greasable, said he’d done a few.
