I've only ever done firewood on a very small scale, and I've not got much left atm, aint got a proper yard, hoping to soon be allowed to use a field and buy some more in though Anyway here's a photo from friday of some logs I was splitting for someone else. This was about halfway through the pile of rings

Here's a basic one I made from timber I had lying about. Just stick the logs in and run the saw through. No real limit on length, so long as you don't tip it!

Depending on the type of work and who it's for, you could always give an hourly rate....

Yeh, all I have is chainsaws and a table top type vertical splitter I have been offered it in lengths at £20/tonne but it won't be weighed so probably just a "load". Haven't seen it yet so dunno how big the stuff is, I think it will all be larch/douglas fir

Just wondering, does anyone on here sell slabwood from sawmills as firewood? Once processed, would you be able to sell it at the same price as "normal" firewood logs?

If you want a cheap helmet..... Head and face protection The standard husky helmets are great lids though imo!

Visors/ear defenders are VAT exempt if bought with a helmet. But if you knackered a visor and went to buy a replacment you would have to pay vat on it

Tillhill or Fountains might be able to sell you some? Can't help you with prices, all I know is they're rising (for soft aswell as hard), the guys at the local sawmill were moaning to me about it If you ever need a hand processing stuff, I have my own saw and petrol splitter, can travel . Can also do vehicle signwriting, and I'm cheap!

Here's a saw with the same model number (no doubt the same machine under the covers) for £75 brand new 18" 52cc 5200 2 STROKE PETROL CHAINSAW 52 cc | eBay It doesn't say whether new or used engine oil is best

I delivered 10 cubic metres of lovely dry softwood logs to a hotel, for some reason they insist on keeping it outside against the wall of a building, on the ground, with no cover The wall might keep off a little rain, but it's already soaking wet!

You could buy a scaffold tower for only a little more [1c] Scaffold tower Heavy Duty 4'3"x4'3" x18' W.H | eBay The wheels and boards are extra though
