  3. I delivered 10 cubic metres of lovely dry softwood logs to a hotel, for some reason they insist on keeping it outside against the wall of a building, on the ground, with no cover The wall might keep off a little rain, but it's already soaking wet!
  4. Looks like I'm the only person on here who isn't married, and is stuck at home with the parents :laugh1:

  12. Thanks , had a close call with a bonfire that started wandering the other week (had to beat it back with green branches) so thought it may be handy to keep one at hand in the furure Had been looking at the ones stored outside local forests, mainly wire ones 8ft-10ft long, but the heads didn't look possible to make by hand using basic tools I will have to see what flat rubber I can get
  13. Have a read of this thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/21082-husqvarna-ear-defenders-built-radio.html It's something thats on my wishlist but for now I'm just using my cheapo mp3 player with FM radio, and earphones, which can be used underneath a helmet or headband ear defenders
  14. Has anyone ever made fire beaters? Any preference over mesh or rubber? Anyone got any designs/drawings I could copy:001_tt2: Could you cut up an old tyre to make a rubber head? thanks
  15. Tongs in one hand and a pulp hook in the other, I find is best (with belt holsters) And a first aid kit on your belt - you can get them for about £2 on ebay. Ditch the plasters and add extra bandages I sometimes have an "army style" water bottle, with holster, on my belt I keep most chainsaw bits and bobs in a big toolbox that I can just chuck in the van with the saw, fuel, and ppe. Got round files, flat files, chains, bars, grease, starter cord, tools, etc etc Oh and don't forget a felling bar/wedges!

  22. Well in the end I cut about 70mm off the outer shaft and have used it full whack all day long with no more issues
  23. I take the trailer as far as I can get then handball off. I would happily stack if someone asked in advance, and they were willing to pay for it I once turned up to deliver to a pub and their woodstore was only 10m through a small gateway, seemed pointless to dump it on the ground so close so I got the guy to help and we put it in the shed (not stacked though). There was no barrow so we used the bread crates that were stacked at the back door :laugh1: Infact I'll be back there with more logs on wednesday
  24. I got mine from "harrows-r-us" who trade on ebay, just a cheap one (£450), you can tell it's made on a budget but it does the job for me
