Well decided on the top of the range tanaka, the tbc600, but after over 2 weeks of it being on order, have been told the supplier can't get it!! So back to the drawing board!

If it's likely to fall on a road then you could let the local roads department know of the danger, and they will send an inspector out. You can usually do it anonymously.

Have just found out that the top of the range Tanaka (TBC600) has vibration levels of 1.4-1.5 according to the book, that's 47cc, but about £600, ouch.

Seems to be mainly banks, rough areas of grass and bracken etc, very rare for me to use the metal blade on this machine (always 3mm square line) but it does need to have a bit of power The TH43 is the ideal machine it's just I don't think I can take the vibes much longer!

On the hunt for a new strimmer/brush cutter with lower vibrations. Use a Kawasaki th43 most of the time, which is a great tool that has never let me down but finding it's starting to get sore on the hands, especially the right (trigger) hand Want a good machine to get many years of service out of Open to any suggestions, even a Honda with a 4 stroke engine (have never used them before - what are they like?)

Nearly had to dig one last week (reopening) but fortunately they paid and got the 2 council lads in. It had to be done by hand as up a path through a gate and up a steep hill. They did a very neat job, shored up the sides, built up battens round the hole to have something level to stand on and covered it all in the butchers astroturf stuff! Defiantly a skilled job!

Yep it can run a nice long line (with the strandard guard on!). Seems to have gone up in price since last year from I think £350 ex vat to £440 ex vat on the Abbey website

I use a Kawasaki th43 which seems a good all round machine and a Tanaka tbc550dx, which is a beast

I'm after a new set of loppers for general use, has anyone tried the 28" Stein ones? They're about £40 on frjones, the same price as 1 replacement blade for my old bahco ones

Are you ever looking to tip near Inverness or Dingwall? Will pay cash for logs, or could collect May also be able to take woodchip if it's to my advantage

Are they new or used? sounds like they would make good stakes for trees, temporary fencing etc

I bought a new harness last year, I don't do as much strimming as I'd like, at most an average of a day a week I went for this one Mister-Solutions Ltd-BRUSHCUTTER STRIMMER DOUBLE HARNESS WITH STORAGE POUCH fair bit cheaper than a stihl, and has a handy pocket on the back. I remember it taking ages to get the straps setup to suit me. I find it fairly comfy, probably not as good as a stihl harness though!

You can also make a circular basic pile using old stock fencing, cut a length then wrap the 2 ends together, because it's a circle it's self supporting so won't bulge out like a square. You can go 2 rolls high, or more if you have a step ladder! Just cover the top with a tarp or tin sheets

Always on the hunt for logs, got 2 different sites where they can be delivered to, or can collect, will pay. Can probably also find a home for woodchip! Get in contact.....

Hi, can anyone help? The log splitter has delveloped an oil leak from the back of the control valve. I know very little about hydraulics! It seems to be coming out round the edge of the plasticy box part held on by 4 screws, behind which is the spring. I took off the plasticy part, cleaned up all the joining edges, and put it back on nice ad tight, but it still drips. Is this part suposed to be oiltight? Would a dollop of instant gasket solve the problem? Or just hide something more internal?
