    Hügelhedging

I planted more willow cuttings this winter by a roadside (in the dark) driving/cycling past you can see the new shoots, they're coming on well.
  2. Sell it If the access is wide enough, can it not be dragged or rolled round to the road?
  3. If you spent circa £5k on an automatic chain sharpener then you'd never hand sharpen again in your life! I like the Pfered 2 in 1 file (it was about £30) but I would say it sets the depth gauges more for softwood than hardwood. You can also get knock off 2 in 1 files, I got some for about £7, and they don't feel much different to the genuine.
  4. Not got one, but this looks pretty easy:
  5. You can get them for a few quid on aliexpress https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005006484972990.html I rarely use it, most of the time just a normal file, one end of the bar on the workbench, and at an angle
  6. Toolstation sell a little top handle chainsaw, gets a mix of reviews, either terrible or fantastic https://www.toolstation.com/hawksmoor-254cc-305cm-top-handle-petrol-chainsaw/p23253 5 out of 5 stars. Lightweight easy to use compact chainsaw 3 months ago Perfect for using when not so much strength in hands 4 out of 5 stars. Hawksmoor top handle chain saw 5 months ago Great little saw for the money, handy for heavy pruning and light logging, would recommend, 5 out of 5 stars. Hawksmoor petrol chainsaw nice and light 2 years ago Bought this for a gift as we were needing a few small trees and bushes cutting down. It is nice and light just what my husband needed. He has tried it out but never put it to any good work as yet, but thinks it should be ideal for him.
  7. Wow decent pots! I'm very jealous!
  8. If you're feeling really posh you can buy the pump dispensers for 5l brand new, either internet or a janitor/cleaning supplier My mate has an Oil Safe pump, I borrowed it once for filling up axles on a machine. Great bit of kit but what a bloody price
  9. Take an old swarfega bottle with pump dispenser, wash it out REALLY well (to get rid of all the abrasive granules). Find a suitable sized piece of hose in amongst the mountain of useful junk in the shed and ram it on the end of the pump Ideal container for dispensing engine oil in small engines, particularly Honda GX type Poor mans "Oil Safe" container https://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-1763-oil-safe.aspx?srsltid=AfmBOoq46hSsGnPkn8tidwwuK_oQBQnvYhZ_0Pt3SCClMNiBwwcDqmk4
  10. No doubt the axle weights make this one a poor example, but I've always liked the idea of these low floor plant trucks 2019 Peugeot Boxer 2.0 BlueHDi Chassis Cab Euro 6, Plant, Lawnmower, Mini Digger WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for 2019 Peugeot Boxer 2.0 BlueHDi Chassis Cab Euro 6, Plant, Lawnmower, Mini Digger at the best online prices at eBay...

    Chain storage

Rotatech sell these little zip lock pouches for keeping chains in. They're marked with the chain size, and you can then store 10-15 chains in an old paint bucket. Unfortunately, the pouches are quite expensive. But you do get a free chain inside each one
  12. Big pile of locally grown birch, 2 lorry loads, which is somewhat rare round here. Also another rare sight, the red arrows were training overhead for a few days. Don't think I've seen them since I was a wee kid at an airshow down south somewhere.
  13. From 2018: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/08/02/roofer-fined-300-carrying-sandwich-wrappers-crisp-packets-van/
  14. Yes sometimes I listen to Adagio for Strings in the van too 👍
  15. I have a family member who drives HGVs, he does a few nights out a week, and you get the standard £26 whatever for sleeping in the truck. For that you need to supply a groceries receipt for the night, I think that's a HMRC thing. If he's "lucky" he occasionally runs out of drivers hours in his home town, so he parks in the council lorry park and walks back to his house 🤐
  16. Have they said how much food is provided with the accommodation? Anyway I thought all forwarder drivers lived in caravans in the woods!
  17. Just get a set of decent work boots, and a set of lace up chainsaw boots. The chainsaw boots are double the price, and a bit heavier, so don't use them for general work.
  18. One modification would be to get a paint pen, and write your name and postcode on the wheel rim. So at least if it comes off again, someone could post it back to you
  19. The Timber Croc is great! Works really well. Timber Croc Saw Horse | Premium Log Holders for Cutting Wood TIMBERCROC.COM The Timber Croc is a self adjusting log holder which is superior to any other saw horse for cutting wood on the market today. Enjoy a lifetime warranty.
  20. Find out what engine is on the mower and search for a recoil starter for it. You might be able to buy individual parts, or the whole shebang. Possibly this? > Briggs & Stratton Recoil Starter 594062 650EXi, 675EXi | Briggs & Stratton Recoil Starters | Mower Magic WWW.MOWERMAGIC.CO.UK Briggs & Stratton Recoil Starter 594062 650EXi, 675EXi - Available from Mower Magic

  22. Looks like the OP @smallguy has disappeared! Here's a video for you:
  23. What about the dog? 30kg?
  24. The town of Dingwall, north of Inverness has the shortest and most northerly canal in the UK. (basically the river was straightened out and deepened) At the bottom of the canal was an old footbridge, but it was deemed unsafe and blocked off by the council in 2017. After 2 years there was no progress, the council didn't seem interested in replacing it. The family who run the local sawmill (which makes fenceboards and WoodBlocX) stepped up and bought a new bridge, and had it installed. For the community, and named in honour of their son James who died as a young man. Fair play to them Scroll down this page to James' Bridge James' Bridge ⋆ Ross and Cromarty Heritage WWW.ROSSANDCROMARTYHERITAGE.ORG Attribution: unknown (Greenhill street in Dingwall looking North) Roberts’ Bridge Unlike Venice, Dingwall has few bridges crossing expanses of water. The oldest one, a small, stone...
  25. They used to sell crossbows on ebay years ago (I bought one!), how times have changed
