  1. Yeah, two weeks solid work and I have pretty much cleared the backlog. Just finishing off much of what I have in and will hopefully have a bit more time to myself next week. If you get stuck, don't work about asking me, I can always say "no" or "laters"
  2. Try bending the carb metering arm 0.25 - 0.5mm away from the body of the carb, a straight edge across the carb body gasket surface will help get it about right. This should give the saw a little more fuel as it looks like this is what is missing.

  5. Sounds like an issue with the delivery of fuel on the high speed circuit. Worth opening up the H screw a turn and see what this gives. It could be a split fuel line so that is worth a check and would say check the gauze strainer but sounds like you have. Other than that, also check the fuel filter is good.

  7. The 339XP was around 14% faster The 357XP went from 7.7s to 5.3s after porting so a 30% gain but the 362 is still faster:sneaky2: but it may be running 3/8 chain so this would clear chip faster! Pretty happy with 30% gain on the 357, happy to take that:thumbup:

  9. I managed to get a recoil spring, the carb is a Tillotson HL so no issues, the seal was aftermarket. Not too bad and it is in real good condition. Just a play thing for me TBH
  10. Got the old McCulloch 1-40 stripped down, new recoil fitted, new carb kit. The top end is looking very interesting for a tuner like me:sneaky2:

  13. I didn't really like to push but if you had sent in in to me, you would have had around 35 days of work out of your now reliable saw! 49 days is a pretty long time! I usually tell owners that their time is best spent doing what they are good at whilst I am left to do what I am good at. The MS200 has a few foibles but if these are sorted during a service, you get a damn good saw!
  14. Funny, I had a heated discussion with a close friend about using a torque wrench on his cars sparkplugs. He didn't care for my scoffing:blushing: I have only used my torque wrench on car parts such as cylinder head bolts and some wheel bearings where the settings are important to the reliability of the final job!
  15. The old school diagnostic is fuel, spark, compression. It sounds like you have the first two, have you checked the condition of the piston or measured the compression?
  16. Been working on an 064, the owner fitted a 54mm cylinder and piston after the original went pop (52mm). My strategy is to always salvage the OEM cylinder where possible. I got the saw in, it was over revving on idle but more importantly, it would pull a 20" but that was about it. I checked the compression and it was down to around 100psi so surprised it even worked at this. It is one reason why I don't tend to like cheap Chinese kit, it can be suspect! I have now got the OEM cylinder sent by the customer, it cleaned up well, I have ported it and expect a vast improvement in compression and power, ported 064s tend to pull pretty hard:thumbup:

Another suggestion is to use a T27 screwdriver for the smaller screws in plastic, A small T handled plastic handled driver for a little more torque and then a proper tommy bar for cylinder bolts and flywheel nut etc. That's pretty much my regime! Had some limp wristed cylinder bolts on some saws!

  19. God created us with the ability to tell the difference between loose, reasonably tight and OMG, it canna take it!! I personally don't use a torque wrench but would on car cylinder heads, wheel bearings etc. If I used a torque wrench on every bolt, my costs and lead times would double:thumbdown:
  20. Had the same with a combi cutter, mostly happens when the manufacturer changes coils and flywheels a bit. I got a refund in my case as the listing was wrong for the coil. If backfired as yours did and is generally attributed to the flywheel going but you get cheap parts for a reason!!!

  22. Just enjoy it, the muffler will be near free flowing, not worth waking the old girl up any more!
  23. Better confirm if it is a Husqvarna 42 or Stihl 042. You need to make sure the base gasket is possible to be dropped or not. You may risk hitting the top of the combustion chamber with the piston.
  24. Yes, two miles is about right, the wife could hear me tuning them 1.5 miles away. Makes the competition nervous:lol:
