  2. Your saw has an electronic spark generator which is good as points can get issues such as contact corrosion and degradation. Was there any vertical scoring on the piston as 120psi sounds low but may be the compression gauge you are using.....what type is it and if you pick the saw up by the starter handle, does it fall slowly (10-15 secs) to full extension or is it much shorter. When you try to start it, is the plug getting wet with fuel? If you take it out and lift the saw so the bar is pointing upwards and pull it over fast, does fuel drip out of the cylinder as this is a sign it is flooded. If you do the above to clear the flood (if this is happening) and heat the spark plug up good and hot then pop it back in and try to start it, holding the throttle wide open and no choke, it may well fire. DO NOT TAKE THE CYLINDER OFF, ALL THE ROLLERS WILL FALL OUT:thumbdown:
  3. Refit the original coil and close the gap up to doubled up printer paper and try leaving the kill wires off. See if it works before you splurge the dosh and also make sure you use the same plug that you did when it ran with the exchange coil. Just trying to save you cash:thumbup:
  4. Narrower Kerf on a worn chain, faster cut speed:thumbup:
  5. Yeah, my neighbours love the 2" pipe on my 1-40:sneaky2:
  6. That's a bit harsh but know there are a few changes made to sort out this issue and a few more. When I work on MS201s, I notice the mods done to sort out the MS200 issues. Most noticeable is the MS200 wobbly chain brake handle issue. I know that I have already serviced an MS200 when it comes in as the chain brake isn't loose:thumbup:
  7. Is it just me who gets nervous when workshop manuals are asked for:lol: I rarely use one and usually only to retrieve info on max revs etc!
  8. That's the reason it burst then, I would fit new clutch springs as well as at idle, that little ring tinging noise is the clutch eating away at your drum:thumbdown: I would also have the brake band out and clean the seats and mechanism as it shouldn't bind on the outside of the drum. Only seen that much wear on a 385XP with long use.
  9. Yes, fiddly little feckers aren't they:lol:
  10. The dots where the rim sits are caused by a worn rim. The heat may be from the exhaust. Get a picture up and lets have a look! Slipping or overheated clutches tend to go blue.
  11. Just pop the exhaust off and take a look at the piston through the exhaust port. Any vertical scoring and it is rebuild time.
  12. Sounds like it has had a partial seize and is now low on compression. Once it gets hot, the compression lowers further to the point it wont run!
  13. Those small dings are caused by a badly worn rim and are the marks left by the chain drive links. Looks like the clutch wore to the point the clutch burst it. Is there a ridge around the inside of the drum?
  14. Is it Autotune or conventional? Sounds like fuel starvation. The fuel line sounds possible as is woodchip in the gauze strainer.
  15. When I ported a 254XP for TomD, I fired it up and the difference before and after scared me as before, the saw was a bit sluggish but it was bonkers and turned out really well.
  16. Pretty much so, just remove the transfer covers, grind the baffle out, smooth and then replace making sure they seal well and then retune the carb.
  17. Well what is the Ergoflex like after over a years use Steve? I have been contemplating a better mattress as I get the first thing aches when I get up which I shake off but have noticed I don't suffer on a harder bed. Has it improved the bad back?
  18. Glad you are excited by it, the 346s sound great once ported. You will not regret it:thumbup:
  19. The 365 - 372 conversion with porting, muffler mod and complete service is circa £250 and includes the cost of a new Meteor 372XP top end. This is the old XP rather than the simpler XPT (XTorq) later version modification. The straight conversion of the 365 to 372 with no tuning is circa £200 and includes the Meteor top end and a full service in the price.
  20. Seen this a few times on later model 372XPTs, I now pressure check all machine fuel lines as the hole allows the carb to pull in air rather than fuel and that isn't good.
  21. It seem to for most of the owners I have done them for.
  22. The guy is using one as backup so really just two:001_tt2: Both saws are some of the best though:thumbup:
