  1. The saw is wearing a new Meteor 372 top end, the carb is the same as the 372 so no issues there. The crank seal under the clutch has been replaced along with a bit of tidying and a couple of helicoils and spare parts but the saw is now airtight, all the checks have been done bar the final tach tune. I would say the issue was a mix of fuel and a slight air leak. Sometimes it is just a mix of a number of slight issues that can take a saw out. The factory limiters were still I place so unlikely to be a carb setting issue but will tach up to around 13KRPM and all should be good now.
  2. It will work but just not as well. I wouldn't try modding it with this carb. Last time I tried one of these carbs on a 372 I had issues and refitted the Walbro one but never found out if the carb was the route cause. Try it, tune rich and check the plug colour.
  3. OK, must have been a lack of fuel on acceleration caused by the L screw. Typical compression on a good MS200 is 170psi and on a well worked one is 150psi, anything below 150 isn't good and the maximum I have seen is 210psi on a modified saw.
  4. You would normally start with one turn out on both the H and L screw, if a saw is bogging at low to mid revs on pickup, sometimes it is just the L screw being a little lean. Be aware that many MS200s still have the carb limit caps fitted and these will stop you changing the H screw by much but that may be a good thing as it should run OK on factory settings. If an 020T carb has been fitted, these often run at settings other than 1&1 as there is only one pick up for fuel to feed both H&L screws meaning if you change the L screw setting, the H screw changes as well so more difficult to dial in. I have never just fitted a ring, worn rings usually mean the piston skirts will have excessive wear or enough wear to warrant a new piston. I have had saws make good compression but have no torque just down to a worn piston. What compression does it make on the first pull?
  5. What is the compression measurement? If the original rings were shot, I would have replaced the complete piston as a worn one even with good rings can lose compression. Did you hone/roughen the glaze on the bore when the new rings went in? The bogging you are experiencing may just be poor carb adjustment - try putting the H&L on one turn out unless it has an 020T carb where the adjustment can be more varied.

  7. OK, did I put a Zama carb on it? I think I did from memory but am not 100%? If it has one then try a new spark plug and then drop it in if no good and will do a pressure check and carb overhaul. Also make sure the filter is still on the end of the fuel line.

  12. The oil in the sump lubes the bottom end and valves, your two stroke will just lay in the bore so listen to Barrie:thumbup:

  15. The local shops are around six weeks wait, makes my two week and under average seem pretty good!

  21. Been doing a bit of work in the workshop, constructed something I have been meaning to do for quite a while - any guesses as to what it is?
  22. Run it some more and go from there. It looks normal to a little rich, it will do no harm but you may get a little more if you lean it out slightly and check again.
  23. So it is in warranty? Take it back to the dealer! It will be a stripped worm or plugged pump.
