1. I know the feeling.......with the Arbtalk jokers above
2. Something a bit bigger today, front strut off the Megane Scenic, bust coil spring - not too bad TBH but have noticed the front brake pads are shot:thumbdown: Big pile of wood out the front, think the 346XP may get a run up tomorrow:thumbup:
3. It is put away until I can get an end can on it....just too loud to use round here! Got away with riding the mini moto round the village though:thumbup: Second childhood:lol:
4. Not done one but would imagine similar treatment to a 560 would liven it up!
5. Perhaps I can make a telescopic one...now there's a thought:sneaky2:
6. How long should it be It is what it came with but may shorten it, I don't believe the end tube length has any effect on the tune. Pleased with the braze on the manifold, all went well!
7. Mmm, I wish, just a cheapo from China, will hopefully stop the ears bleeding:001_rolleyes: The expansion was some aftermarket flash one from a Kawasaki KX85 I believe - tenner off ebay. Been in the garage for the last 2-3 years but is a decent one! Yet to see what it will do full tilt! Been a little quiet after Christmas so thought I would sort this one out, running mad rich so needs to be a little quieter and then tuned a bit more!
8. It had to be done, full port and pop up piston, the one saw that is actually louder than your 372:001_tongue: Was all going well until the wife said " WILL YOU STOP PLAYING AROUND AND DO SOME WORK" Harsh I thought! Just ordered an end can for it!!!!!!!
9. The Devil makes work for idle hands to do....................................
10. Reckon he pulled legs off Daddy Long Legs as a kid as well:sneaky2:
11. I posted that last August Andy.....where you been:001_rolleyes:
12. It is important to get the bearings pushed in as far as they should go and then to ensure the crank sits relatively central, more important on certain machines with crank stuffers with their built in thrust washers.
13. I think you are missing my point, when you fit the crank in to the cases, the crank is exerting an outward force on the bearings. All that needs to be done is to tap the end of each end of the crank with a hard hide/copper mallet and to do this until the crank is super smooth and the bearings have aligned correctly. No stripping of the engine again! Failure to do this will end up in toasting of the bearings......that's about it! The only aftermarket kit I like is Meteor but of all the Chinese stuff, Hyway seems about the best!
14. The Stihl ones tend to be thicker than the normal cheapo ones you pay peanuts for....just saying!
15. On the crank resistance, the seals do make a little difference, it changes the real silky smooth free flowing feel in to a slightly more spongy type feeling with slight resistance. I guess the fellow has de stressed the bearings when he fitted the crank by tapping the end of each end of the crank?? Oh - and aligned it centrally in the crankcase void and not hard to one side?
16. That is pretty much what I thought as well, it is a difficult one to resolve. You can mount the cylinder over the piston, push lightly on the cylinder top and feel to see if it rocks from side to side when the crank is rotated. That will tell you if the height difference will cause an issue. If you do use it, I would use a liberal coating of liquid gasket around the base both sides of the gasket! I wonder if the dowels were lost on the rebuild:confused1:
17. They are a bit good, pretty damn powerful!
18. I would lay off those shrooms......not good for you hippy types:001_tongue:
19. Yes, and is damn loud as well:thumbup:
20. Only been on here a short time:001_rolleyes: Just PM or email me if you need anything done:thumbup:
21. I have a good relationship with my neighbours, I have sold three of them chainsaws, blowers and long reach trimmers....just harmony here:thumbup:
22.

Typically two weeks and just remember, if I modify your saw, you will invalidate your warranty if it is within the warranty period!

Cheers

Steve

23. Pretty simple although there is no definite way of making sure both diagonals should add up to 40 but seems like the obvious answer! These question setters just like messing with the question to make it seem more difficult than it really is!
24. It is very possible that the cylinder is OK and you just need a new piston. What most fail to recognise is that the Nikasil plating on the bore is bullet proof and tends to only score if it comes in to contact with hardened steel such as circlips and piston rings.
25. Have just answered your visitor message! Porting sort of gets under your skin, it isn't for all but most really love the pickup and extra power you get with a ported saw - always makes you smile:thumbup:
