  1. May as well complete the diagnosis - rusty or seized clutch drum needle bearing:thumbup:
  2. probably, can take a look and see what gives! Been a while!
  3. Oh dear.....hope it all works out:thumbup:
  4. I have been in Manufacturing, Sales and now I ma an infamous saw fixer and tuner. I am back in the workshop tomorrow with a bit of work waiting for me and have no regrets about being self employed and doing what I do. Before I would have been sitting here, dreading the inevitable return to work with the new years targets and all the issues of corporate life - sales was the worst but I am now happy, the wife says I am easier to live with and thoroughly enjoy talking to you, my customers and aiming at 100% satisfaction. So....YES, I enjoy what I do:thumbup:
  5. I looked at these and they are manufactured, if you can use that word, out of a shiny plastic material, are badly formed and generally crap! Not worth the money - stick with OEM although expensive!
  6. Pardon...can you speak up:sneaky2:
  7. It should connect to a suitable server, test the "Ping" and then do the download and then the upload speed. If pressing the button does cock all then you are either not connected or your connection speed is worse than mine! I use this app all the time and have since I sorted our router and did a few tweaks to get our speed up so we could stream HD films!
  8. Take a normal spark plug, open up the gap with a small screwdriver so it is 5-8mm or 45 degrees to the original position. Plug it in to the cap and earth it on the cylinder away from the plug hole and give the handle a good yank and watch for a decent spark. If it does this, there is probably nothing too much wrong with it!
  9. On my phone I press a forking great button with "Begin Test" on it....yellow in colour if it helps:001_rolleyes:
  10. Which wire? The HT wire or the kill wire? The HT wire should screw in I believe! If the coil can spark across 5-8mm, it should be OK!
  11. No idea until I get inside one:thumbup:
  12. Toss up between a MS461 and another MS201!
  13. looks like the Government has some work to do based on those figures......4mbs down, 1mbs up....and that is stonking in our village! If you want to maximise your broadband, investigate disconnecting your bell wire in your master box, fit a faceplate and look at a router with adjustable SNR!
  14. Good advice, try a new carb kit and it will probably fix the issue. Worth checking the fuel line isn't holed or softened significantly and fit a new fuel filter - they can dry up and become blocked!
  15. Good saws in their day but pretty old by modern standards!
  16. According to this - http://www.motoculture-jean.fr/upload/pdf/FS36_FS40_FS44.pdf you have a traditional high and low screw in the carb! Is the compression OK? have you checked the piston by removing the muffler and peering through the exhaust port?
  17. Squish, although it sounds like a pet name for the other half, is in fact the distance from the piston crown to the outer combustion chamber. It is used in two stroke tuning in all formats - chainsaws, boats, bikes, carts etc!
  18. Done a few now, lots of happy customers!
  19. The clutch has no friction material and are just metal?? They do wear and once the drum has wear, they start slipping a bit, possibly caused by the long bar but more likely it had just seen a life. Hope you changed the drum as well as the clutch as it usually develops two ridges around it's rim and these are then worn in to the inner drum making it thin and may possibly burst. Seen it on an old 385 before and a couple of others - it does happen on older kit!

I was told that when I purchased my traps, 24hrs later, I had spatchcocked the little fella:thumbup: He was cocking up my lawn!!!!
  21. Still going well then Matt:thumbup:
  22. Looking is as close as I would get:sneaky2: Personally, I have bad experiences with them but many rate them as a solid saw but not a racer like your 357XP. The 372XP is a far better choice and will last better!
  23. The 7 pin will give you more grunt and less chain speed, the 8 pin will give you less grunt but higher chain speed. In general, the larger rim will give you faster cutting speed up to a certain size log and then the smaller rim will be faster. On a 20", an 8 pin should fly fully buried. I would imagine that a 24" fully buried, the 7 and 8 pin will be similar. Much depends on how hard you want to lean on the saw!
  24. The vacuum may be for ignition advance purposes or if not, it may be for balancing the two carbs. Removing the choke.....I can only imagine it is for maximising flow or fitting some sort of blower.
