  1. Life is great....apart from my fellow colour blind Arbtalk comrades:001_rolleyes: Not a problem doing that, just let me know when suits:thumbup:
  2. Very funny everybody......just need a big lump of wood now......don't I Burrell!!!!
  3. There, that did it, no ringing ears and headaches:thumbup:
  4. Sounds like a draft issue, if there are trees or a roof apex in the way of the cross wind across your flue then it will mess up your up draft. You need to have the flue proud of surrounding structures. You can use built in fans or a decent cowl to increase draft, I use a WindKat cowel, expensive but it does work. The only other thing is if the chimney is big and cold then it may need pre warming to get it to pull - it is a science in itself:001_rolleyes: cold still misty days are the worst!
  5. Looks like someone has commercialised my filling the runs with gas idea! Looks like a good solution. Tried it once to clear the roots out of my outside stopcock and it took over a month to grow the hairs back on my arm:blushing:
  6. Or kick her off the sofa to fiddle with the dampers:thumbup:
  7. Getting off your arse and fiddling with the dampers is such a big chore isn't it:001_rolleyes: What next!!!
  8. Fill the run full of gas, fingers in ears and ignite - that should sort them out:thumbup:
  9. Stick it on eBay, got to be worth £50:thumbup:
  10. One of the best but still not up to PCP accuracy......a Jack Russell is still better than both!
  11. You really need a decent air rifle and scope as rats are tough, you need to break the spine or hit them in the head to do the job, a body shot isn't good enough. Air pistols are just not accurate enough in my view! I use wad cutter target pellets, the flat head gives a good impact!
  12. It can be helicoiled or an insert used, done many, have all the kit necessary. Needs to be done well but it is much cheaper than using a new pot!!
  13. Yes, I know, wet with anticipation or is that just our age:lol:
  14. S300 here with the Rowan Engineering magazine and silencer and big scope.....nice rifle! Also got a TX200 with a Walnut stock:thumbup: Boyz toyz:lol:
  15. On the case, will see what happens:001_tongue:
  16. Arbtalk shooting party:thumbup: Done many in the back garden with my Air Arms. Wilko Rat"Food":sneaky2: and traps....even got one in a mole trap once:thumbup:
  17. Seems theft is shed break-ins, robbing the elderly or targeted theft of people with high value jewellery around here but theft of farm/arb kit is always with us......as long as no one gets hurt, the police will just downgrade it. Think we better start leaving our really dangerous kit out to be thieved, trouble is the hospitals would then fill up with the low life feckers!!!!
  18. Parts can look the same but operate very differently, found this out on a Kombi trimmer where the Chinese unit backfired violently. Most coils trigger pretty much when they go over the coil but some have a delay built in so they spark well away from the coil and TDC. No idea if it will work - up to you if you want to spend £14 to find out!
  19. Is it the recoil jamming or the engine being tight? I usually remove the clutch, sparkplug and flywheel then turn the engine over with the crankshaft stub and see if there is any hindrance, it should be smooth. Your flywheel may be just catching on the coil but without it on my bench, it is difficult to say. It may be the mains, the stuffers can become loose or a light seize!
  20. If the scores are actually through the plating then it is scrap. If the damage is aluminium transferred on to the cylinder then it can be removed. I had similar and had to fit the Chinese top end due to the cost of the OEM part. Wasn't that impressed with the cylinder but for a homeowner it would be a good machine!
  21. You would normally take the piston and cylinder off and check for wear by putting the piston in the bore, bringing it to where it would sit at BTDC and checking for slop. If you can wobble it significantly or get a three thou feeler between the cylinder and piston then one or the other is worn. What happened to the original cylinder? The tangs sometimes come off the piston circlips and if one of these has run up the bore, it may have put a very small channel up the bore - seen this before, you cant see it by eye but the compression is lacking. You can put your finger over the plug hole and push the piston without rings, up and down the bore but all these tests are very subjective and you need to have looked at many to tell a difference. Have you tested the end gap of the ring? Very unlikely the cause but is possible! Is the cylinder nikasil plating OK? Buy a compression tester:001_rolleyes:
  22. Check the flywheel to coil gap, try disconnecting the kill wire from the coil, check the HT lead continuity. Very generally, coils seem pretty reliable and in my experience, either work or fail.....with exception of one MS361 that would only rev to 7500rpm and no more......strange that one!
  23. I know the feeling.......with the Arbtalk jokers above
  24. Something a bit bigger today, front strut off the Megane Scenic, bust coil spring - not too bad TBH but have noticed the front brake pads are shot:thumbdown: Big pile of wood out the front, think the 346XP may get a run up tomorrow:thumbup:
