  1. Right handed drill bit will only tighten the bolt.
  2. Very common on beech trees
  3. You may find the chain a bit tight when using a 9 x 325 sprocket with a bar that was designed for a 7 x 325 - need to use a well run-in chain or fit chain around bar and rim sprocket before fitting rim to the clutch drum.
  4. As has been previously said - get a power mate or stihl equivalent rim sprocket then you can quickly change between 325 x 9 , 3/8 x 7 , 3/8 x 8 , 404 x 7 or 404 x 8 to suit the bar you have.
  5. Average lenght is 4m so at 1.5m high and 2.4m wide its 14.4 cubic meters:001_rolleyes:
  6. If I remember rightly - journeys under 65Km (40 ish miles ) are exempt if its your own livestock or not for reward.

  11. The recommended nose weight for the trailer hitch is 150kg. Obviously on a public road you have to be sensible but off road I will raise the hitch if I think I need to - Getting stuck would be embarassing

  13. Take of n/s front wheel - check brakes then hub bearings - I suspect the later !

I agree a longer wheel base makes a towing vehicle more stable but most lwb's have more rear overhang putting the tow hitch futher away from the rear axle.This gives the trailer more leverage to push your back end around when turning. Also having the tow ball closer to the rear axle means the trailer doesn't move up and down so much on undulating ground. Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is weight tranfer.By using an adjustable height tow bar you can transfer say 500kg on to the back axle of the towing vehicle to give traction and stability. So the best 4x4 that i have found for towing 3.5 tonne off road and on is the defender 90 but needs more power, comfort ,seats,payload and load space.
  15. General Grabber AT2 - 255/55R18 will be the best for your Discovery - not a mud tyre but an excellant all terrain - very little choice in 18".
  16. I general get a cube a tank out of my Husky 40 which holds 0.5 litres of fuel and 0.25 litres of chain oil .So I would say that you are using about twice as much as you should be.Maybe your saw is running too rich - check the max rpm - My 40 is doing 14,200 which is a little on the lean side.

  18. As previously mentioned the Discovery transfer gears will increase every gear by about 15% . What tyre size are you on ? Going up from 205/80 R 16 or 235/70 R 16 to 7.50 R 16 or 235/85 R 16 will give an increase of about 10% .

  20. Ordered some today at 65.45 p/litre for 900 litres - apparantly the price went up 3 times yesterday due to the revolting Arabs!

Two years ago the NFU wanted to tax my Land Rover as a commercial vehicle after insuring it as private light goods for about 4 years.This doubled the price to about £450 so i switched back to the CMA. All my tractors, buildings and liabilities are with the CMA and if you need to make a claim your local rep will help you sort it out - much better than a call center that just wants your money and doesn't want to give any back.
