  3. I have used 325 Microlite chain for a number of years and fully understand the narrow kerf principal.I guess in the U.S small bars and small saws ,are homeowner saws ,and require safer chains.Over here there many pros using 50cc saws with 13" & 15"bars. I notice your 325 Microlite bars are now available in pro-am for amateur and pro-lite for professional use.Any chance of a pro chain to run these bars - a full chisel chain without guard drive links ? 95vgx maybe.
  4. Does that say HS 85. Looks like Porky has the explanation.
  5. I can't find any evidence that the HS86R(coarse cut) was ever available in 40" You must have the HS86T(fine cut) - which at 30mm is "stihl"quite coarse.
  6. Husqvarna only do one 40" machine - 226HS99S Tooth spacing is 28mm HS86T is 30mm,HS86R was 38mm. If there was a big demand for a long, single sided ,coarse cut machine Stihl would continue to make it.
  7. Have you tried a 30" HS81R. Cuts on up and down strokes. 3 position handle for working 1) horizontal. 2) L to R. 3) R to L.
  8. Good idea if you want to run full chisel PS chain.
  9. I haven't seen the sun butt..... http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/04/07/article-0-1CE86C3B00000578-667_640x755.jpg
  10. With a description like that you don't need a picture .
  11. Its a flange yoke to hub yoke (with keyway) U.J
  12. Does it rub the chain guide plates ? Seems O.K on my 40
  13. I agree , more hook and the chain would feed itself and not need forcing. Also the depth gauges look quite high for the amount of cutter remaining. Chain looks like 59LG which is 5.5mm or 7/32 file so unlikely to be using too big a file.
  14. If you look at a new bar,the groove looks the same width as the side rails. On your bar the groove looks to be nearly twice the width of the side rails. Its either wear or the rails splaying .
  15. Make a new chain catcher , out of aluminium , that's long enough to bolt through the dog and epoxy the broken piece back in place.
  16. 6" of Damson isn't going to be a problem 15" of Oak might be a bit much for a 550xp
  17. http://www.mopedarmy.com/mediawiki/images/3/32/Compression_Tester.jpg Check your compression first.Testers cost about £20
  18. Now you need a standard 7 clutch drum and a 9 pin rim.
  19. Shame we can't get a full chisel , narrow kerf chain , without bumper drive links to run on it. Although 50 guage RS works well its not N.K
  20. Check your facts - Oregon now do a PRO version of Microlite called the Pro-lite 95vpx - see writing on tip of bar.

    ms230c chain

Its the LS engineers site that is at fault - for the MS230 it correctly list the OE 3/8 picco chain but the only bar pictured is the 0.325" 1.6mm bar. At 45cc and 2.0 Kw there is no reason why a MS230 should not run a short 0.325" 1.6mm bar. I would have kept your first replacement B&C and ordered the rim sprocket kit from spuds link. The rim sprocket kit in my 1st post would have the OE 3/8 picco rim.
  22. Is that where all Discos go to die ?
