  1. you cant polish a turd cut it down and plant something else
  2. i got stuff from a fire damaged church most excellent kindling ive ever had
  3. are the chain brakes on the 550 xp a known problem as ours is stuffed and its only a year old
  4. you can get better engine positioning as you arent having to line up engine drive with belts,no clutches on the engine, does away with drive belts
  5. great start to the day just got first gas bill with the new boiler in and they owe us £29 yippee:thumbup:
  6. on the stop solenoid there is usually 3 wires one is earth on is linked to the starter for the pull in coil and the other is the hold in , the stop solenoid is usually on the fuel pump on the left hand side at the back if you get a multimeter the coil with the most resistance is the hold in
  7. i would expect if it stalls after full throttle it wouldnt be fuel starvation as you have to crank it to purge the air out the injectors stick a test light on the hold in coil and see what happens
  8. i did a comparison test on the gauge and the gauge is ok so theres nowt wrong with the piston and barrel so i stripped off the carb and the rubbers a bit worn so i decided to try pressure testing it with 5 psi pressure found the crank seals leaking when i sprayed soapy water there was hardened debris packed around the back off the clutch so new seals required
  9. or even cheaper and cheerful what about the stump cutter that was on that video from holland or belguim but just a smaller version
  10. if its for grinding stump cutters get a diamond disc for 4 1/2 grinder and save yourself a lot of hassle
  11. scottish coal has just went belly up they have a pile of stuff that'll be up for grabs i dont know if they have anything as small as that for cleaning conveyors etc either that they have a pile of large mining excavators from 200-300 ton:thumbup:
  12. i will try a comparison with another gauge i will try to take some pics of the piston
  13. you will be lucky to get a mini digger with enough flow to operate a stump grinder as soon as you slew or put dipper in our out it takes the flow away from the aux service i would be tempted to go for one with its own engine

  16. done a compression test and got 13 bar is that within spec
  17. the saw was bought second hand and my brother in law is a serial killer with anything mechanical so a checkered history with the saw i could pretty much guaranteed it will have been caused by oil or lack off, spud can you tell by the marks what the cause would have been heat, oil etc
  18. also i might add that it feels as flat as a fart when you are revving it up
  19. any pointers i have adjusted the idle speed up but it wont idle when hot ive had the exhaust off and there is light scoring on the exhaust side of the piston it also feels quite easy to turn over with the starter anything else i should try before i stick a piston in it cheers
  20. run a few welds of hard facing rods down the edge of the blade and dress it back to a sharp edge
