Getting into Biffy recently. One of the apprentices today brought in two of their albums. The music has been blaring all day whether in the town or not. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAh--lH0H3U&list=HL1378412748&feature=mh_lolz]Biffy Clyro - Many of Horror (When We Collide) - YouTube[/ame]

Going down West dorset tomorrow to a site near Southern counties clay ground. If any arbs see us in a ranger with a kubota in tow give us a flash. Or if you know where the site is we are on Hilfield Hill. -
I was having a day long discussion with my colleagues today about putting High octane fuel through our 4 stroke machines but also using the high octane fuel for the 2 stroke mixes. All our petrol gear is carb fed but i have noticed that since switching to the high octane fuel, everything starts easier and idles better. My question is other than the price difference, what are the pros and cons of using either high octane or standard unleaded?

Not a bad day. Lots of clearance to be getting on with. Unfortunately picked up the wrong jerry can but didnt realise until we got on site. Used the fuel anyway with not too many problems other than lots of smoke on run down from idle. -
I was think the same thing. It looks like it has cracked in the past and a bit of rot has set in as well as a weak point. But that failure has got alarm bells ringing as got a Scots Pine with a lean and is hollow on a public open space.

Not a bad start to the morning. Had two massive bonfires to get rid of the travellers arisings today. Glad the highways guys stayed with their JCB as it was alot easier than hand balling in onto a raging fire. Also had a large ash limb over a bridleway. The job sheet said the branch was less than a foot diametre. -
Before Badgers were protected to the hilt, there weren't any problems with BTB. But since they were protected problems have arose in varying forms. Although it sounds unpleasant about a "cull" it isnt technically a cull, it is just what should have been happening throughout the farming industry on a larger scale. Otherwise known as close control. Shoot the unhealthy ones but leave the young, fresh ones to keep a healthy stock. But what would the tax payer rather pay £338/badger to be vaccinated or £1.50/round?

Nope on the squash all day trying to clear the system. Gutted as would have wanted to go up this evening. Had a curry thurs night and not been right since.

Looks like a Pipistrelle. Usually find them roosting in chimneys, loft spaces, etc. As long as they have somewhere sheltered, warm and easy to climb in and out of they will find it.

Since the last post i have found 28 nests on our sites in various places and of varying sizes, strimmed a wildflower bank which was full of litter(5 bags in total), been getting a winter work plan sorted, and ordering two new heavy duty mowers as our old ones are slowly falling apart. Next week we have this wonderful plant to pull up. I have never known the site to be so bad for it but this year it has gone wild and we have left it too late to blast it with roundup. -
Got an FS480 which had its HT "boot" knocked off on a rights of way clearance job. The boot was fitted back on but i think there is a dodgy earth as every now and then whoever is using it gets an electric shock similar to an electric fence zap. Will be replacing the boot at the top looked like it was pierced so water may have got in. But other than that any other ideas what is causing the shocks?

Got a KM100 R on the bench to be drained of fuel, flushed thru and have a look at the piston. It was smoking like a gooden today. We have put the fuel into the contaminated container which was contaminated with about 3 litres of Diesel. Although it doesn't sound like much combined with the two stroke oil it was too oily for our machines. The smoke was blue on full throttle, white/grey on run down and black on pick up. The compression seems OK but fingers crossed the oil rich mix hasn't caused any damage as the engine was bogging down constantly.

Have you ever worked at the Steam fair before on the Gates? P.S How full is the temp nomadics camp looking?

V.T.A symptoms "the chatty trees"
Matthew Arnold replied to Tony Croft aka hamadryad's topic in Tree health care
Got a largish Ash with Ganoderma australe sprouting from the base. There was one bracket which is attached to a large root but has since died. It now has atleast 4 brackets of varying sizes appearing at the base on both sides. I wouldn't be overly concerned but the brackets are growing below a tight forked union with canker as well. The crown is full and healthy with very little deadwood. Other than monitor it what would the more expierienced gents suggest for this tree? -

Watched the Biffy Clyro set live on the TV round a mates. He plugged the 12 x 2 surround system in and turned it up so we could hear the music clearly but not be deafened by it. The song which stood out the most is Machines. It got me blubbing like a baby but my mate knew why. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeqG4HgG5Go]Biffy Clyro - Machines - YouTube[/ame]

It's the 3 month anniversary since my mate was taken out on his bike and was invited to a cider and sausage fest down my local. Was a cracking day. As i arrive the landlord had sorted out us a flute of champagne and a shot of flaming sambuca. There was about 30 of us but made a great afternoon of it. I know i will be regretting it in the morning.

Despite the end of the game being a flop. If clarke had brought on two spinners the umpires i dont think work have had a problem and possibly swap to a white or pink ball ( its the same ball just a different colour) then they could have got the final four overs in. Anyway i cant wait for the 5 match ODI and 2 match T20 series of which i am watching an ODI and T20 with my colleagues at Southampton. Will be a great day no doubt. I am glad the ICC are talking about bringing snicko in and using hotspot and snicko together for edges for the winter series.

Ha ha. Still get called Arnie no matter what.

Ha ha cheers. I said to the younger apprentices as they need a bit of educating on seeing a gurt bracket on the base of a tree that i will walk around with the woods with them and show them examples of what trees do to compensate the pathogen eating them from the inside out.

I went from a walk during an extended lunch hour and took my camera with me. Lots of Gano affected Beech with some very tasty vets in there too and lots of failures both recent and post 1987. Its a fung hunters paradise throughout the year but the bit of rain has woken everything up again.
