  1. Time to get the thread rolling for this seasons fung hunts. Just the usual suspects at this time of year.
  2. Day one of a boardwalk and double stile build on a footpath soon to be officially diverted.
  3. Back to Saturday 28th now. Currently got 2 vehicles confirmed. Anyone else in Dorset/Wilts area fancy a day splashing?
  4. Todays job. Help out baling and hauling the Haylage off our flagship site. And it doesn't take sherlock holmes to find out where the fly tip came from.
  5. Let the scrumping commence..... hic 15kg of apples (cookers and eaters) and 3.5kg of Pears on tonights haul.
  6. As per title i noticed this evening that one of the Oaks on a site i manage has Beefsteak fruiting at the base as well as about 15 ft up out of an old wound. The crown is reasonable healthy but has two "Priority A" targets well within falling distance (A heavily used Tarmac perimeter and a large industrial unit and courtyard). Because of the trees targets and the double fruiting. What would your decisions be for the tree?
  7. Sorry to be a pain guys but will have to change the day until Sunday 29th as dad is on overtime on Saturday.
  8. Thats cool mate. No worries. Will be arming myself with a hedgecutter this time round lol
  9. Got a 56 plate club cab as a council truck. We get about 35 mpg with gear in the back although you have to give it some to get it upto speed and keep it there. We average about 20-25 when towing a laden trailer. Its just had its 60,000 mile service and had just cracked the 67,000 mile barrier.
  10. Looks like Armillaria lesions which would explain the nose diving crown IMO
  11. +1 for the newer BCS or a Reko flail. Our BCS is brilliant for the flattened brambles but not so good on the 5 ft high ones.
  12. Had a site visit this afternoon with a local farmer to look at a stile in need of replacement. I think i will need the breaker.
  13. The sticker which is going on the landy. As people who have been out with us before know. Ours does smoke like a train lol
  14. Back to the same site tomorrow but luckily this part has been mown enough as we can only get one pass each side. The next patch we are knocking back two widths either side where possible.
  15. Anyone else up for a day of Dorset/Wilts lanes?
  16. When i am back beating in the next month i will try n get some pics of a local estates MB Trac 1500 with a forwarding trailer. Its a custom job with a Botex crane. Not seen it in action but you can normally hear it in the woods working away.
  17. Well, where do i begin:lol: Had my finger crushed by a wheel clamp on our TW150. Been in a rear end shunt with the boss between two council vans. And most recently, nearly lost a hand flail down a railway embankment. All lil things apart from my finger. Would have lost the tip if i hadn't pulled my finger out.
  18. Some fistulina (not noted on site before and not on tree until this year) and a Mycena sp.
  19. Had a bit of a woopsie with the handflail today. Was reversing to get the deck out from the grabbing brambles and it slid down the bank.:lol:Got it back out though. Luckily the boss saw the funny side of it.
  20. Came home but was already soaked. Just tucking into a Sausage and bacon bap before taking the spaniels out in the drizzle.
  21. Very lucky ladies not to be killed by this branch. But unless my eyes and ID skills deceive me but is it not an Ash branch? BBC News - Women survive 'savage attack' from tree in Wolterton
  22. Wouldn't have though so but if ya want to be safe then go for it
  23. Blandford Tesco car park at the petrol station end.
  24. We will have two stickers on the 110 and most people who know me will know why. I will be quieter than normal that weekend for the obvious reason.
  25. Yup. Glad i sharpened the saws yesterday. The "big tree" i dealt with today was an 8 inch diametre dead Elm. I wasn't amused but the farmer thanked me for carting the logs back to his yard for him.
