  1. Got a phonecall about a local byway which was blocked by a few trees. Ha ha they werent kidding. 4 trees down in 50 metres. All of them were about 12" or wider:thumbup:
  2. Bit of a random query but has anyone done any tree work in Gillingham, Dorset after Monday nights pounding? As got 3 sites there with good sized trees that were in full leaf. If any Dorset/Wilts guys are up that way could ya PM me of any problems. The sites are Rolls Bridge and Hawthorn Avenue (Cold Harbour area) and Chantry fields (near Waitrose). Any info would be much appreciated.
  3. U drive not any more you don't. Was a cracking specimen of a sycamore but its now destined for the firewood heap. Driver was extremely lucky as was in the back when he heard a crack
  4. Another sighting yesterday at the wier.
  5. This afternoons aftermath clear up. More of the same tomorrow and for the rest of the week. Haven't heard how bad it is in Gillingham/Shafts way yet. If anyone can let me know so i can let the boss know. The sites are Rolls Bridge, Chantry Fields, Hawthorn Avenue, Addison Close in Gill and Castle Hill in Shafts. The last pic was a local landmark in Sturminster Newton up by the mill. Chopped in half by mother nature.
  6. Wind is picking up quickly in dorset and the rain has just arrived. Had a bakers dozen of call outs so far mostly for little things. Let chaos commence tonight
  7. On call from now until Midnight Monday. Let chaos commence.
  8. Todays pics. Same drives except one as the wind was wrong for the original 3rd drive
  9. A classic i heard yesterday on Radio 2 Pop Master. It brings back great memories. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCSJzw6QM_Q]OPM "Heavn Is a Halfpipe" - YouTube[/ame]
  10. Got an ex work colleague on a Maersk vessel out in the mid atlantic on its leading edge having 20-30ft swells thumping into the bow and lots of white horses. Strongest gust so far is 125mph. They are empty but they are in the trough slightly so doing the "corkscrew" as they climb and list at the same time.
  11. On call from noon Sunday to noon Monday. Sharpened all the saws this afternoon and all the spare chains we had too.
  12. The plains are out of bounds due to a live firing exercise across chitterne, bulford and larkhill. So will be having 50 cal, 30mm, 105mm and 155mm pounding across the byways. But got plenty of other lanes to drive along.
  13. Will be out on 24th Nov if anyones up for it. Have three routes planned. All dependant on weather, abilities of drivers/trucks, and of course unexpected lane closures.
  14. XC weather. I've found its 90% accurate if you check it last thing at night and first thing in the morning.
  15. A new one for me Hygrocybe subglobispora
  16. Not a bad start to the season shot 120 on the nose. A few of the guns were a picky but the old hands sound them how its done. When we have the normal syndicate i will get pics of the gun line.
  17. After a 2 month hiatus they are back. Got a mum and 3 kits this year and the big dog patrolling the area.
  18. Ha ha will do bud. This stuff is horribly smooth. Not the usual burn that gin and whisky give.
  19. What was going to be a morning job took us all day thanks to bloody roots. The gate needed turning around as well as the hoops. The digging was ok if it wasnt for the roots which we had to cut it would have been done quicker.
  20. Last nights filtering session. The Blackberry gin, Blackberry whisky and Damson Gin is all filtered and ready for drinking. The monster sloe gin is now fermenting ready for around January. Won't be going cold this season.......hic:thumbup:
  21. First day this Saturday. Will be getting plenty of pics as the cover crops this year have done extremely well. Got maize 8 ft high on average and 4 ft high Kale.
  22. Blackthorn with occasional tasters of the filtering homebrew
