  1. agreed.
  2. second hand stihl 361.
  3. Beech went over in woods up the way, combo of Kretz and Ganoderma. Made a nice mess but punched a large hole in the canopy. The beech next door to this will probably go the same way fairly soon.
  4. Pluerotus, all of which feed on nematodes as well as saprotrophically on wood!
  5. Thank you! Matty Arnold suggested the same!
  6. Took this photo in passing just thinking a faded Laetiporus but someone suggested something else and I looked closer, now I'm confused. Found on oak about 2 weeks ago. ##
  7. Anyone know what make this one is? Found in the rooting area of a mature oak last week.
  8. I would have thought that the degree to which the tree should be managed to prevent injury/damage, would depend entirely upon the frequency of use of the land adjacent to it. A boundary hedge in a field would tend to be such a low use area for people that more serious defects could be allowed. The foreseeability of the bull being injured would depend on size of the field, stocking density etc. The H+S Act would surely not apply to cattle, although the Occ Liability Act 57 would cover damage to goods?
  9. Whoop! Just noticed I've already busted out one of the modules, Plant Selection, as we did that at L5 in the L4! Hope it's transferable as no way on earth do I want to repeat that experience!
  10. The nylon side is fine for knocking in tags so long as you don't catch the nail on the edge of the face.
  11. Tree roots in built environment is available on the same page as the British Standards etc. Unsure whether Treelife would count as a College but if you have an Athens account, then you can search for it, download it and then delete once you finish the course

    Hello

  15. Planning on doing this but living so far away from anywhere useful, it'll likely have to be by distance learning through Treelife. Is there anywhere else that offers by distance, and is there anywhere cheaper than £5.2k?
  16. Tidy!

    Damn hornets!

Hornets are pretty chilled out. Just don't get on the wrong side of them.

    Damn hornets!

I was inspecting the other day with a colleague and we were discussing whatever, when I noticed a wasp trying to crawl into my dogs fur. I pushed it away then felt something on my leg. Then noticed a lot of flying insects. Then mid sentence suggested best to leg it as we were stood in a nest and the ground was crawling in the little sods.
  19. Ayo! With bonsai trees, do you think it's possible to get scaled-down fruiting bodies? I can't even think through the biological implications.

    MS260 oiling problem

Oil is standard Stihl chain oil. Haven't had a chance to get it back on the bench again but have in my mind ruled out everything apart from the oil pump itself. There's a genuine one (but used) and a non-genuine but new one on ebay at the moment. Before I do, I'm trying to work out what could be defective within the pump so I don't replace the part unnecessarily. Can anyone see anything that I'm missing on these please? This is how oily it gets: And I've ordered replacement springs for the clutch as these appear pretty slack, although it looks like it's seen only low use? How could the springs be so untight? Ta!
  21. Why bother buggering around with it twice? Just get it on the ground at least?
  22. imagine as schools are county then they would require ten mil too.
  23. Christ, hope they turn up well and soon!
