    MS260 carb problem

ps: the chain doesn't run when brake on. The clutch looks in fine condition and there is no fishing line or similar beneath this (I've had this before and it tends to be the first thing to look for when other chains have run on, and in all cases apart from today, it was fishing line). Again, thanks for the replies!

    MS260 carb problem

That properly makes sense! When running, the oil covers everything! I've just noticed that I was turning the screw the wrong way anyway () and i was going to delete this pure idiotic fact. I've now found zero and changed L to it's intended single turn. This would explain the run-on and now shows not to play with the LA/Carb until the oiler is sorted. Thank you! I feel like a total plum now for turning the wrong way I make mistakes so other people don't have to.
  3. ............or more likely user problem Chain runs while at idle. It's correctlty tensioned. Like an idiot I started messing around with the L screw only, then realised the error of my ways, ground my teeth a bit and thought I'd bung it back to the specified setting which is enscribed on the side of the air filter cover. So I gently turned it anticlockwise without paying attention to how far it had gone around, expecting to find the limit of turning so I could then turn it back to what it said to. There was no end to the turning. There appears to be no bottom limit. Turning it does alter the running of the saw but there is no way to quantify how many turns from zero. I got it running again as it was before but now I'm not up for using it until I'm sure the settings are correct! I have not touched H or LA. They are as they were. When I start the saw now it seems to run fine apart from the idle run-on, when I increase throttle it progresses smoothly with no struggling. It doesn't cut out while idling. My question is, now I've made a fool of myself, what's the likelihood of causing damage to the saw through having buggered about with 'L'? It doesn't feel as though it's wrong, but now I can't reset it to factory settings, I'm dubious about using it. I could take it to local dealer at £60+vat+parts which I'd rather not do, but will if I have to. Like i said, H and LA remain untouched. There are some things on this earth that I wasn't meant to touch, one of those things was carb settings. Other things include cooking fish, maths and boxing.

    MS260 oiling problem

Hi, it's a 15" bar and I've set the oiler adjuster at lowest and highest and problem persists. I've left it sat on its side on a piece of paper to see if the oil tank breather is leaking.

    MS260 oiling problem

Thanks for the replies guys, the tube appears fully intact and the bar holes are fine and the stainless plate is intact and appears fine. It does oil the bar, just I think at the moment I'll have to look in the oil tank way before I empty the fuel tank!
  6. Hi, Just bought a 260 and there appears to be a problem with oiling. It doesn't leak when at rest. Oil flicks off the tip of the bar so some of it is making it the whole way. A lot of it is collecting underneath the sideplate and dripping out downwards. Upon inspecting beneath, there is oil over everything. It appears to only be coming from the oiler outlet, just there's far too much of it. I have emptied out the oil tank and cleaned it out, blown it through, taken off the small metal plate and blown through what I presume to be some sort of air intake to the oiling system. I have changed the bar/chain over for another. I'm running standard Oregon bar oil. I have altered the oiling rate setting to top middle and bottom. Any ideas? Many thanks.
  7. I bottled it in the end and settled for a 260 to play it safe. The 038 went for £160 shortly after.
  8. Good answer
  9. Are these much cop? For a good condition one, what would be a reasonable price? Is sourcing replacement parts fairly straightforward? Will they run a 16" bar? Thanks!
  10. gave it a go with fat end up and quite enjoyed dunking fatter than usual soldiers in it. i can see the appeal.
  11. Fistulina on oak Root plate failure of beech resulting in the Ganoderma riddled stem breaking into 3. Bit of Meripilus on beech. I shall get more photos today. Last year the entire base was populated with it with G. applanatum around full circumference at 0.75m. Inonotus dryadeus on field grown oak. First time I've knowingly seen this. Saw it on this one then few hours later on a couple of other oaks in another field. Laetiporous on oak adjacent to the previous one. Again, a first for me, seen it once then seen it everywhere. G. resinaceum, firstly on oak in field, secondly on housing estate by my work then thirdly (my actual first spot) up on the roadside in Balloch, Scotland, while I was on holiday. I drove past it the day before then next day made my wife go shopping while I looked after the dog (when I say look after the dog, I mean walk it to the tree to take photos of fungi). Couple of council guys pulled up for photos too. Always taking my work on holiday!!! Bit of Fomes, another first for me, this time at Arkingglas Woodland Garden. A proper old coppiced oak vet in Bamaha(?) with Laetiporous in wound low down in one of the stems. And finally some Armillaria bootlaces. This year I've seen proper loads of stuff I've not seen before and just generally loads of different fungi everywhere. Must be a good year!
  12. Could you fell the ones you want then use an excavator to dig a trench around the retainers and install a root barrier, then treat any regenerated poplar without worrying about it affecting the retainers?
  13. Hi, I'm after a replacement throttle control handle for a FS480 brushcutter please. Does anyone have one that they would be willing to sell? Many thanks, Adam

    glastonbury?

He was in a J reg Merc Sprinter off his mash on ecstasy pipes in Shangri-La all weekend. There was a skip of spent nitrous oxide canisters outside his porch, the dirty sod.

    glastonbury?

I went. I'm still pretty dead now. Saw the Stones from about half a mile away. Saw the tent that Bruce Forsyth was in. Actually saw The Hives, The Orb (and drummers), Shut Up and Dance, Bryan Gee, Jerome Hill, Andy C, Ratpack, Teebee and Calyx and tonnes of stuff on the Cabaret stages. On my way out I saw a van with "Ecoarb" on the side and remember seeing that name on someones sig on here, in car park near the AA campsite (as in like the RAC). We were 3 rows from the back of that car park and got out onto the country lanes in 10 minutes whereas everyone else took year. Probably still there now!!! Saw a man use a topper to do a cross on an apple in his mouth, which was exciting. He didn't look like he'd made many mistakes while practicing!

    veteran tree oak

Yeah that was the plan, but how about the vegetation management below it? Would 2 foot of buttercups and rye grass be denying it enough nutrients?
  20. I completed it on Wednesday. Got all my work put in order and all my notes filed away today. Having time to twiddle my thumbs is now totally alien to me.
  21. Yo, I'm looking to get a trail camera or similar. I've been looking for threads about it on here for a few minutes but can't find the thread I was after. I'm looking to fit a camera in my yard that I can access remotely and that will send me a warning if someone triggers it. This one looks good, but can anyone make any recommendations for similar bits of equipment? GSM Camera - Scout Guard GSM Trail Camera - Digital Wildlife Camera (ps got 3 pickups all broken into in my yard last night, nothing taken, just loads of glass smashed and doorframes bent). In Havant, Hants. Doubt it was anything more organised than kids off the estate but would have been handy to get some evidence. We've had requests for cctv turned down about 5 times so far. Thanks guys!
  22. Isn't sycamore pucka for chopping boards?

root air injection: what's left of fibrous roots would be mashed. logs+milling - I've got plenty of oak to do that with. This ones worth enslaving.
