  1. Ordered! Many thanks! I'm massively impatient for this book!
  2. [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ancient-Other-Veteran-Trees-Management/dp/0904853098/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363034934&sr=8-1[/ame] Here we go!
  3. Oohh. I'll try and get a better photo this weekend; I won't be traveling past it in decent daylight until then. It's in Bishops Sutton, in Hampshire by the way.
  4. Many thanks!
  5. Hi, What is the current standard for recording veteran trees? I'm getting the idea that the Veteran Tree Initiative survey forms are no longer able to be input anywhere. Is the Ancient Tree Hunt the place for central recording now? I'm trying to record trees with different degrees of veteran features rather than ancient trees, so that I have both site records for my own use and the ability to externally record trees that will hopefully make up the 'next generation' of ancient trees. None of them are ancient, but got a few around 200yrs old with all sorts of interesting features. The Vet Tree Initiative form seemed relevant although I can find nowhere to input. The Ancient Tree Hunt form seems base purely on ancient trees, with no way of scoring features like with the VTI. Any guidance would be much appreciated! Many thanks, Adam
  6. Hi, I've driven past this beech for ages and decided to stop today and take a couple of quick photos. It is about 8 foot high and sat in an old wound. I noticed it in September although it may have been there longer. Sorry about the quality of the pictures. I'm thinking Inonotus cuticularis. What would be the consensus?

    Quercus robur 'fastigiate Koster'?
  8. Cut in whatever gloves resist light scrapes. Wrap your gloves in rags from a torn up jumper to grab and drag.

  10. AAAh ok! Didn't realise you were the haulage side!
  11. I'd give Tony Blair short thrift if he were to call me at 740 on a Sunday
  12. Thank you!
  13. Innit. Thinking perhaps that it's twenty to bloody eight on a Sunday morning.
  14. Hi, I'm in the market for 25T hardwood cord. I've got one price which seems reasonable but need to get a couple of others. Price to include haulage to Havant, PO9. Many thanks.
  15. haha! Cheeky sods! Keep up updated on the return call!!
  16. Course was good. I spent about 10 hours a week on the coursework from Hort Correspondence College. I didn't really have anyone to speak with about it though which made it hard to find some things out. I stressed myself sufficently about the coursework that the exams weren't half as bad as I thought. If you have someone to speak with about the subjects then do it without going to college. Otherwise, do the one day a week thing.
  17. My experience of planting heavy standards for the first time involved me kicking myself that I didn't dig test pits first. I found the water table to be inches below the surface in quite a few locations across the site. Prior planning prevents piss poor performance!! I used Griffin Nursery in Liphook for mine. I had good service from them and prices seemed good.
  18. Just tell them that it has been down for 2 years and is freshly split and flog it to them.
  19. It's all sorted ta. Just got myself confused with that one! Alinicoll - I had bunged in a Picus tomograph picture in, hence got referred on it It'll all be over in 5 months!
  20. yeah i got it mixed up with an incorrectly labelled picture I lazily looked at on another site so got myself all confused. realised the error of my ways now!!
  21. Yo, Again resurrecting an old thread, but I'm looking for an example readout from an Arborsonic Decay Detector please. I can't seem to find anything with a google search and what I thought was an ADD was not! Many thanks.
  22. Probably the fact that a large proportion of people go through a phase of smoking it and perhaps dabbling in a few other things. And that 90% of users won't go on to become a raging waster, contrary to popular belief.
  23. Resurrecting an old thread, but from sending RFS the relevant certificates, how long does it take to get the full certificate from them? I sent my bits off in November and emailed them chasing up a week ago but no reply from either. I'm not in a hurry to get the certificate but would like to know whether they've received what I sent them.
