  1. moving some wood chip around this morning, trying to re-seal some window frames to help keep the draughts out and then at lunch time me n' she are off to collect some cord from an ash die back site.
  2. i put enough oil into a 20L gerry can to make 20L of premix, i then add 2L of petrol and shake it like mad then add the remaining 18L of petrol and shake it again. I always shake the gerry can or combi can afore topping up a saw.
  3. a mate of mine works for Mid Devon District Council ( @nepia you know who i mean) and the staff on the recycling lorries and grounds maintenance crews have been spooked by all the Covid goings on and have self isolated thru fear and distress. He is the only ticketed grave digger and is unfortunately digging graves in readiness. They are treating him with kid gloves as if he goes off sick then the council are snookered. Sad times. Me 'n She (Wife and Groundess) worked yesserday but avoided any contact with the customers and we declined tea and CAKE ffs!
  4. i tried 1 day with one of the lads and it was a pain in d'arse as we were multi handling saws, ropes, fuel cans while trying to remember to spray each item down and use hand gel, it was a bit stressful to be honest. 3 other subbies i contacted were scared shitless and didn't want to work so i have decided to do all the easy jobs i can on my own or with my wife as 'groundess', we are working together today and next week we'll do a day or 2 then that's probably it. If we have to sit it out and stay away from everyone else for the next few months then so be it.
  5. ya i considered wearing face masks in the van but have decided to tell them to meet me onsite (i still may wear the mask though on my own though!)
  6. i think it's great as it's more or less guaranteed work and ya can almost 'count your chickens' etc.
  7. is this the same site that you started on back in 2016?
  8. so will anyone be collecting workers next week and sharing the ride to site with them, if so will you all be wearing face masks till ye get to site?
  9. but 15 stone....?
  10. me first car was a 1977 Fiat 126 with the odd choke and starting levers next to the handbrake. Used to get 5 of us brutes wedged into it of a friday night. It interfaced with a stone wall near Kilcoole one night whilst i was trying to dice with a Hot 1340cc Mini. I drove it around with no bonnet for a bit till Dad advised me to scrap it.
  11. who is doing the port work, the saw king or someone else?
  12. Me too! Cant seem to get off the kleins though. Very positive and secure feelling. Distels feel comfier, but endless gaff outs yes them Distels do gaff out too easily, i may have a look to see if there is a medium length gaff replacement option. The Kleins are sporting pole climbing gaffs that are good for cypress / redwoods or anything with deep soft bark but it's like wearing stilettos (and lip stick)
  13. thas a good idea. I have 2 sets of spikes, a very old Klein pair and a newer Distel pair. The difference in comfort is like noight and day.
  14. those 2 look great, i run an 02 plate Transit tipper too but my 120ps one is fair gutless where as my mates 03 125ps is so much better and really flys along at a fair old lick. I do like Transits and if ya get lucky and find a rot free one they are cheap to run and fix.
  15. Bill i spotted those cheap 360's on ebay at the time and kinda wished i'd bought another as they are great value for money. I bought one of the first 360TES's several years ago that had come into the country and i still have it, i really like the different moulded palm pieces that you can fit or remove to your liking. Echo's warranty is in my opinion second to none as they have treated me and several udders more than fairly when issues have arisen, i remember they offered me all my money back or a new saw when the CAT inside the exhaust rattled loose for the second time on my 360T ! I smiled, declined and fitted the supplied exhaust which fixed the problem.
  16. performance wise i reckon the Husky 550, 560, 572 are unbeatable.
  17. gotta be the fat end of 1k to get them all out, what say ye?
  18. agreed the stihl 201T is snappier but yer Echo will loosen up some more. Take out the spark arrestor if ya haven't already.
  19. Has the Echo had plenty of fuel thru it? Mine was tight till it had about 15 litres thru it.
  20. shedding plastic and breaking the plastic zorst cover is his own doing as i have only needed to replace 1 in 4 years. The spark plug and air filter covers popping off is also a problem i have a fix for. I run 2 2511's now.
  21. Kev they are complete tossers! Did they admit to a clerical error or was it merely readjusted because You are clearly no push over? I take mine to my mechanic that does both trucks, Wifeypoos Honda Jizz and anything else i feel i may need a hand with. Truth be told the GM manual is pretty good so i can do it all myself at home if i want to but his plush, immaculate garage means it's so much easier to do. We service it together and chew the fat as we go, i supply all the filters and oil and he only charges me about £60 as it's not rocket science. If i dug out all the receipts then i could give you an accurate cost of parts and labour but thas not gonna happen!
  22. i select the saws from Husky, Stihl, Echo or 'Dolkita' that i am sure are good for me and buy them. I do like Echo saws but not all of them. Echo's CS 2511 TESC is a hard act to beat in my opinion and that's why i run those over a Stihl MS150T. There are some models from all the manufacturers that i simply would not buy. It's not hype for me it's simple economics and preference.
  23. i'd like a ported / muff modded 360T.
  24. yep i'd love a new 3.0 Grafter (but my 18 year old Transit does the job) but i am a fan of double cabs and the majority of Grafters appear to be single cabs. There is always more storage space with a Transit / Iveco double cab that's had the rear bench seat removed and shelved out versus those aluminium roller shutter storage boxes on the back of single cab trucks. I prefer twin rear wheels versus the skinny singles.
  25. the Echo 355T is known over here as the 360T and the latest edition is known as the 362T i believe. They are good value for money saws but i reckon the Stihl 201T has the edge on performance.
