  1. That looks a very handy machine. Whas goin on with that blue impact block though as it looks to be configured incorrectly or is it a photo illusion?
  2. yep i've bin running an Echo Li 2500 fer months now. A great pruning saw or you can push it to dismantle medium sized trees but you will drain the batteries quicker. I have 2 batteries for mine. I run it on an 8 inch chain and bar so it doesn't sap as much power. I had a battery come out and fall onto soft grass a few weeks back after the saw nudged a twig whilst it was dangling from the tool strop, this concerned me greatly as it could've potentially hit someone or smashed to pieces so i have additionally secured it using a short piece of bungee cord as backup. There is a clear piece of plastic at the base of the battery slot that can and should be removed so you can use an airline to blow out sawdust etc. It's also worth noting these saws do not have a clutch bearing so no need to grease the output shaft, it's worth cleaning this clutch / chain brake area out frequently as it helps cut down on resistance thus helping to prolong run time. My Echo 2511 TESC is by far a more capable saw as it has a 'huge set of balls for a small angry man' and comes into it's own when the Li saw can take no more. Horses for courses etc.
  3. why not look at the Greenmech Evo165, they are currently offering a limited edition 45hp kubota diesel version, this will blow the older and later TW230DHB out of the water.
  4. How does this compare to the 455 rancher, and what's your thoughts on the rancher for occasional work ? Hi HBD, I have not used the Rancher but i believe they are good.
  5. what ya do fir a living and what kind of work will the saw be doing?
  6. An underrated saw is the Husqvarna 450, a real ball of fire with no auto tune. Will pull a 15'' bar n' chain easily and i reckon it cud cope with an 18'' b&c from time to time. kicking meself as i missed out and a brand new one a few weeks back for around the £300 mark.
  7. a good dealer would have fixed or replaced that saw. Echo offered me a full refund or a brand new saw several years ago when i had some issues with a 360TES climbing saw. I cannot fault their backup and support.
  8. yep some scrap. be gr8 to see AJ versus Fury, the money involved is almost obscene!
  9. thought all MK6 and MK7 tippers were 2.4?
  10. How ya doin Woodland Dweller, I would like to buy Tales of the Old Woodlanders, The Secret Life of an Oakwood, My Wilderness in Bloom and Tree Surgery please. PM sent.
  11. say it as i see it really! My 501 will have the exhaust tube/baffle removed and retuned as it is approx. 1500rpm below max revs apparently. What i like is it starts easily hot or cold and is lightweight.
  12. 501 is a gr8 saw but feels a little underwhelming to use.
  13. Yours was 'Broken' as opposed to 'it broke'!
  14. He's based 20 mins away from me. Impressive skills right enough.
  15. Sam, he did but they wore off due to aforementioned knuckles dragging along the ground...
  16. It's nearly as bad as Your 'Live to ride, Ride to Live' tattoo....!
  17. Stephen, can u tell us the specs of the truck please, 4 cylinder, diff locks etc?
  18. Ok Minkey, thank You.
  19. so just to confirm, the cut n' climb is a Stihl product made by Clarks?
  20. @woodwizzard
  21. It's a secret underground group so keep it schtum yeah!
  22. Not so much overloaded but it still looks comical. I laughed out loud when he clambered up there and refuelled the quad bike.
  23. Not so much tool related but handy enuf to fix roadside and they are cheap. I carry a spare nearside door mirror glass and the small blindspot glass too. With the narrow Devon lanes (is Big J reading this?!) they take a hammering with hazel and beech hedging protruding out onto the road.
  24. i simply drain off the 2T mix out of the big saws and run the carb dry. I'm not interested in using Aspen.
