  1. That's a handy diverter. Are the hydraulic lines for the rotator on top of the valve there. Is it a quick release coupling system or do you have to take the spanners out when you remove the grab. Also are the electric circuit type you have better then the manual type. Presumably more convenient from the cab. Where did that valve come from? Cheers.
  2. Aye, I see the electrical circuits now. Neat.
  3. Never seen that mod on a digger . what plumbing have you done there Stevie.
  4. Personally, I would build smaller units say 4x2 pallets. But if you want to keep it big, think you said 12x8?, put some pallet dividers through the pen as you fill it with logs, this will help a lot.
  5. Actually never thought of posting pictures of some of the mining mishaps here. Good idea Pete.
  6. Aspenarb, You do some amount of fixing lol.
  7. Have a look out for a second Negri (Italian) chipper, the R225pto, or older 220 is a 4'' machine, with integrated hydraulic feed roller. I picked mine up for about 1500 quid second hand. Only needs 15hp.
  8. No problem, its an expensive bit of kit (think I paid about 2200 euro + vat), but should last a lifetime in a domestic environment. BTW I just noted that the link above is for the Thor 'Farmer 13' - That should be 'Magik 13' from the thor range, a slightly superior product in terms of spec.
  9. Errie kind of place, that piece of music works well in the clip. Watched it a few times now. Do you see much in the way of unusual wildlife in these remote hillsides Reg?
  10. Hi Ricki, I bought one of these from Thor 13 ton Farmer 230v log splitter (Pto version powered by an old mf 35 at tick over) M large compound is just up the road from you. If your down in sligo any time Ill show you what she can do.
  11. Its splinters up into kindling, when its pinched by the blade i would say.
  12. Mine's just a pto version, haven't seen electric combi thor magik in action. One thing I like about any vertical splitter, is that if your wood needs re-splitting its sitting on the splitting table ready splitting. With that kinetic - yeah it looks ideal for small diameter pieces that only need slicing once, but try any larger piece and you'll be on your hands and knees all day picking up bits for re-splitting. Thats got to slow you down and give you back problems in the long run. Wonder if it has the oomph to take a 4 way head?
  13. Nice video, like your thinking here regarding long skinny limb walks, rigging down etc, that can be avoided thanks to the lift access on an extra towing vehicle.
  14. Wonder if its possible to get just a shear wheel for the bilke rather then the standard blade it comes with that splits the wood as well. Would be a weapon for processing billets, so much faster then any bench saw, might even outdo one of those auto roto saws.
  15. Thats the way to do it logged on - no sore backs there. Very ergonomic.
  16. Seems awfully slow compared to a chainsaw and/or splitter combo. If going down this route, particularly for demolition waste I would favour a pto bilke shear with auto infeed. Granted it would alot more expensive to buy, and would probably be equally as expensive and complex to design and build, compared to a examples shown already.
  17. Thanks Eddie, No experience of such things, but interesting to me none the less. I am imagining a scenario of say a rotator and rock breaker attachment using the same pipe network. Is this where the regulator comes into play? And by having a dial in your cab, eliminates the need to physically fit and then adjust flow rates manually as per attachment. Thanks again.
  18. Thanks for the info lads. Slightly conflicting answers, but I'll have a go at it middle of this coming month I think.
  19. Hi All I have a well kept 8ft high x 4 ft wide x 50 feet long leylandi hedge I want to reduce in height. I want to take it down to about 4.5/5 feet so its a little easier to handle when giving its a cut. Just wondering when the best time to do such a hard reduction is. I was thinking April when the worst of the frosts have past. Am I right in thinking a hard frost could do some serious damage to such a wounding this time of year? thanks.
  20. Thanks for the pictures Beau, some cool kit there today.
  21. Is that a mini diamond drill rig setup for core sampling on that tracked dumper JP.
  22. Hi dude, that's me alright. You have seen my weekend playground thread whats your name, where you based yourself?
  23. I have a couple of punters who live in terrace housing, with no rear access. wheelie bins are the way to go, as can't dump load on street. Then its just 4 runs through the house hall to rear shed, job done. Also suits as I hand load my wood from cages for delivery anyways.
