  1. Haha Stephen - you sure do come prepared at any work site you show up at. Nice one. Nice Mecalac package Adrian. We run four mtx 12's where I work (Underground Mining industry) and they are a very versatile machine.
  2. Some very nice end of summer pictures coming through at the moment lads. Keep them coming.
  3. lawnmowerFor Sale in Roscommon : €3,990 - DoneDeal.co.uk I have hired out an Orec (2 wheel drive) before, a great machine. Rare to see these type of mower's for sale in Ireland 2nd hand. Not heard Canycom before. Does anyone have any experience, comments regarding this particular model. Cheers.
  4. I've noticed that if split within say 1-2 hrs of being felled that it pops open like sycamore, and left for any time longer and it becomes stringy and a tad more irritating. Although as you point out, each birch tree seems to have different properties.
  5. Doe this help in any way if your splitting into billets straight after felling?
  6. Fun for all the family Marcus. Have you ever roughly worked out what time it takes per cube from forest to fire. I average about 2-3 hours on my own, same setup as you minus the pto saw. I season in 1.2m3 cages at source, and transport out to front door when seasoned, never further then 500m away.
  7. Wonder if you have to constantly open and close the hatch to the splitting chamber on the ryetec. that would do my nut. Not sure if there is a major difference in build quality, but the hydraulically assisted bench saw, hydraulically adjustable splitting wedge, and on the button auto splitting would win me over for the ryetec.
  8. Nice, 1000 is it?
  9. Again, only dealt with IBC's. In terms of maintenance costs, the ibc has to be the best option. Will take a lot more stab wounds from pallet forks and general battering around, compared to any wooden structure.
  10. On a small scale operation where you only have a splitter and chainsaw - A meter length only has to be split once, saving a lot of bending, twisting, and picking up 25cm sawn logs from the floor.
  11. Not as a good as a posch hey John.
  12. Both from New Zealand - particularly like the stabilising hydraulic arm here in vid 1 which also acts as a mechanical aid on the reverse stroke. [ame] [/ame] I like the way the blade can be turned in around rather then the log, a slightly better approach to the log turntable idea. [ame] [/ame]
  13. I'm only a young gun, but buying a splitter was the best thing I ever did. I went for a Thor pto machine, fast, powerful, save and productive. It was so much fun to use I went on to start a small weekend firewood enterprise. It's paid for itself 10 times over now in just 4 seasons, and not a single problem in all that time. My back is as strong as ever, and its still so much fun to use. Never would have come this far with just a fiskars.
  14. With regards to firewood - A ton of roundwood, could produce up to a cube and a half of firewood logs (loose) pending species. I'd say the average price must be 80-100 bucks a loose cubic meter here in Ireland for hardwoods. So sounds about right if I read it like that.
  15. Yeah I like a bit of chat, a few tunes, and some pure sound. Cool stuff.
  16. Just got 100kg of counter weight for the front, thus can move IBC's with ease now.
  17. Sweet tractor.
  18. Thanks white noise, will do. Sandspider, yeah its the framework at the base of that rack where the pallet toes slide through. (looks wooden but is in fact my botched mig jobbie).
  19. 45x60 nets should get you 35-40 from a loose cube.
  20. No, its the rack in pic.2 I'm referring too. Cheers.
  21. Mostly been doing the firewood stuff this spring. We had some cracking weather back in Mar/Apr. Welded up a new frame for sawing billets on as well. Sits nicely on pallet toes and thus can be raised to waist height as needed for loading/unloading. During the summer I have been making up these wooden crates for seasoning, as IBC availability is an issue. I get these lovely used core box planks free from work in the mine.
  22. Thats pretty cool. How old is that? I know its a lot older then it looks, Pure lead paint hahaha, don't make it like that anymore.
  23. M Large outside Belfast would be a good bet for a decent grab/rotator. There is Oakleaf forestry as well, Murphy brothers in Ferns, Wexford down south. Good luck with it.
  24. Stock, I like that mod. on the blade for knocking off unsplit sticky pieces on the up stroke.
