  1. I just use old silage pit plastic covers that local farmer's throw out, cut to size for my ibc's, I twist up the corners for a bit of strength and use plastic ties to fix the sheets down. virtually free, but tatty looking. Wouldn't fancy cutting up for 200 through.
  2. Interesting work there village. Very tidy landing at your woods.
  3. Wow, that looks about 2 ton of pup. A video of that in action when your organised would be good.
  4. Same as that, Given the small quantities I produce annually, a processor would take all the fun away.
  5. Hi, very nice looking product. I like these kind of small scale setups. Reminds me of my own. I note the recent extraction activity in the other thread 'forwarding on sensitive sites'. Whats the system from there on back at the landing deck. You mentioned a splitter, so I assume there is no other mechanical advantage other than a chainsaw? Looks like enjoyable work none the less.
  6. Not tracked but a great effort from Dean here http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/large-equipment/64501-another-one-deanos-brainwaves.html
  7. Awesome looking piece of kit, both machine and head. Much beefier looking up close, plenty of steel in the under carridge. What weight is that menzi model and shear head combined.
  8. Thanks lads, yeah its a runner, had been in a garage for some time, but started after a few kicks (no battery yet). Initially a problem with fuel starvation, but a new vacuum pump sorted that. It had been driving well, but suddenly there was no drive power to the rear wheel, It is just about spinning off the ground but any resistance and its just stops. I'm not sure if these yokes are belt or shaft driven? Perhaps the belt has just stretched or slipped off?
  9. Hi Have been given a 1994 Aprilla sr 50 with some minor issues. I want to get it right and give to my younger cousin. I know there a quite a few bike heads (maybe not scooter mind) on here, so perhaps you can recommend a good uk forum for such questions. Thanks
  10. Plus for the end user, unless they have a kiln to store kiln dried in, what's the point?
  11. Hobbies and real job - two separate things mate. What we do for leisure usually costs us some of the money we earned in the real job. Firewood hobbyist's actually see a return in savings made on the gas, oil bills etc. So if you enjoy doing the work, its win, win.
  12. Chain size I would say. Used to cut up small billet bundles with 1.3mm 3/8picco chain, no probs - now on 1.6mm .325 chain - more powerful saw but same bar length and it can be a bit grabby alright. I always put heavier lumps on the top of the bundle to avoid this, and forget about the saw horse tensioner altogether.
  13. That 900 is some beast, very fast output and seems to be screening the 'kippins' a little better as well.

  15. Sprocket bearing was good, so left that out. Decided to have a tinker with the LA. Seems to have done the trick.
  16. Haven't looked into this yet - but forgot to mention that once the saw had stalled, its quite hard to fire back up again, usually requiring the half throttle setting.
  17. Nice mate, thanks and will do.
  18. Thanks for the replies guys. Most helpful as always. Hadn't thought of the clutch issue with worn bearing etc.
  19. First time its ever acted up, 3 years old - occasional use. Air filter clean, always clean, fresh mix. Maybe fuel filter needs changing?
  20. Horse chestnut I think
  21. No worries, just checking in this thread. Sounds like you will have to build up some sort of berm to get that extra height issue sorted. Bit of a bugger though.
  22. Did you ever have any other thoughts on this Beau? When I get a new cage in, I remove all but two of the hex bolts/coach screws before first use and attach a cover with ties. When seasoned wood is ready, I lift cage up onto trailer, remove the two screws, and then lift cage of pallet . Logs tumble out, job done. I retrieve the pallet base when I tip, then replace cage unit and screws and re-fill.
  23. What is the function of that ram on the front bogie? Looks like it tilts the front wheels up, but why.
  24. Can only find spec's for a 630C at mo, the photographed tigercat here courtesy of Stevie, being an earlier B model. but some of the info might be relevant Billhook. Tigercat630CSkidder
