  1. Good man. Did you get any extra's? Table, 4 way head, etc.
  2. I've found my thor 13 to be bomb proof and very fast. I process mostly sub 14inch stuff though so never remove my 4 way head. I built the table so its higher up for my long back. Not sure if the petrol one is as fast though, but the build quality is superior. This machine in the video is 5 seasons old. [ame] [/ame]
  3. Like a giant vice. I like that. good find.
  4. No, haven't got a winch unfortunately. Just a tug line out front for any hung up tree's (Small stuff, I don't touch anything bigger then about 30cm dbh). I work on a very flat estate woodland, with go access to everything I extract.
  5. What a palaver lol. Whats your youtube link again mate? Remember a nice little vid you posted a while back involving a hand winch and plenty of grief.
  6. Should post a picture not to be rude.
  7. Yeah, Got a thor myself, excellent machine, runs off the pto of my 35x.
  8. Nice little setup, is that a thor in the back round?
  9. Thinning out some ash at the moment. Lovely autumn weather here in Ireland.
  10. Is that the 2 piece blade setup, and you release a clip that allows the bottom half of the blade to drop down first and clamp a log? Maybe the system has been updated, but I always wondered what the clamping power was like, Is it hydrualic or gas strut?
  11. Yeah thats right, on the magik 13t (pto). One can hold the log, and make adjustments as the blade advances i.e re-centering etc, until the blade makes contact. Its a funny kind of pressure valve, it has great clamping power, yet doesn't even bruise your fingers if they end up in the wrong place. Only draw back with leader controls is that it is a little slow, and acts up if the guides get bunged with sap, partiuclarly pine, spruce saps. The paw would be a second choice. I would tire very quickly with the 'jamming the knee' to steady the log technique. What a ball ache.
  12. I like the look of that paw as well. BGU also run the paw system, but are pricey. Correct me if I'm wrong but I also think you have the option of bypassing the paw and using these machines one handed as well if you choose to (saves doing any mod's if its a private machine).
  13. Nice one Beau. I could do with one of those on my thor at times.
  14. Nice one. On route back from Callan's?
  15. Cheers, I love it down in the woods. Its a weekend hobby outside of my normal job. Some pictures here if you haven't seen the thread before. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/57561-my-private-weekend-playground.html
  16. Smooth operation. Well done.
  17. Small scale weekend woodland work. I posted a video a few pages back showing the splitting setup from the piles. Pre-splitting I fell and buck to 1.5m, then load and haul on this pallet rack and build up piles in clearings near the road, where the rounds can be split into ibc cages. Its 5mins of chainsawing so don't waste your time waiting for something else to happen if your not keen.
  18. That would be great if you get the chance. (I know its not always convenient when the work is on).
  19. Some billet setup gdh, any video footage of this process?
  20. Real world logs being processed there Beau. Very versatile machine. I like the way the splitting chamber doesn't auto split with every cut, enabling you to use the chamber for stock piling, sorting and a bit of hand activated splitting on the smaller stuff.
  21. Very well thanks. I have about 50 ibc's ready and seasoned for this Autumn/winter period and about 50 cubes of sawn logs ready for splitting and seasoning as soon as cages become available. Well ahead for once. Glad your contract processing is going well for you.
  22. More contract cutting Beau? Beautiful day for it there.
  23. Perish the thought mate.
  24. Opposite ends of the spectrum, haha. 2.5k bags is about what I do in 5 seasons.
  25. Sweet pictures. Some lump in the buck rake there. That tracked forwarder looks great.
