I had a lead were this African lady wonted her willow tree removed. So i gave her a price of £1700 and that was cheep considering it was next to her green house and the tree was 60 foot tall. And her reply was her brother can cut it down and take the waste for £200. So i happily said sorry cant beat that smiled and left. Well she phoned two hours later and asked if i could do it for £500. Which i told her no.then two weeks later one of my crews said that some one had cut a tree and it landed over the Next doors garden and destroyed there wood cabin thing that they had there jacuzzi in and it turned out to be that same person. Ive been in the arb game for 20 years and with just under £200.000 worth of plant thats all paid for and 8 full time staff. I think i know what iam doing. And yes there is times were you need to keep your whits about you but theres times you need banter to pass the dull and boring days. Don't get me wrong but £1000 per person thats steep. I had one of my men out in the rubber duck that day with the wind and that made me £1900 that day and thats £67000 machine. Banter you girls don't know the meaning of the word banter. Try working with my two crews there banter consists of warm mars bars in your boots and feeding your pack lunch to the clients dog. And theres taking your chain out of the toping saw when your in the tree. And don't forget the classic tie a branch to you climbing line so when your coming down your greeted with a bush. And then comes the i am your dad jokes and your sister and i was going to be your dad but the dog got there first jokes. We play a tuff game and if the new lads cant take the banter. Sorry to hear that mate. My advise is to get some one to live in the yard in a caravan thats what i did. 24 hour security with a big carcuskian bear dog as well. 4 years ago i priced this job it was a paper bark eucalyptus that was a round 40/50 ft with two massive limbs that over hanged a conservatory and one limb was a bout 5/7 inches from the roof. So i set my self up and was doing a TOM CRUZE mission impossible over this conservatory that must have cost then same as a small house cutting a way when this little child appeared directly below me. Well i froze and then said to my groundy in a pleasant way to tell the lady to get the child out. With the added **** you you shitting **** bolloks. If you 2nd man has eyes and ear view on you then its ok. When my team are on a busy job were theres loads of joe public then the rigging man ( bely man) 2nd climber will have his harness on.
