What wages do you guy think is fair for a groundsman /trainee climber

My groundy is on 80 per day he started on £40and got his pay rise to £60 when he passed his cs30/31 now on £80. But he is a good groundy keeps my ropes tended and knows all knots and rigging and when he climbs he will get £100. So I think you have been more than fair with him...I would have told him to go and have fun being a street sweeper wile showing my middle finger.... Removal is part of this trade and some times has to be done..I never forget the big one I've had to remove the big jobs stick in your mind and I don't feel sorry i just think ! Well it had to happen....but the punning jobs gives me a sense of satisfaction nosing iam an artist and a bloody good one at that and it's still there for me ore the next brother in arms to do......and when I drive past with my men we all ways say? I give my new lads a 2 weeks if there willing and like the work and I keep them after the 3rd month they get trained 30/31 and then I take it out there wages weekly.. Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.

What happened to my ground labourer was the funniest thing. he was the mutts nuts he said claiming he can use lock jacks and spider jacks.. So I let him use my spider jack...he was doing ok ascending until he pulled back the release without applying the thumb brake.... Well I nearly wet me self when he came crashing down and the first words out of my second climber was.! your the mutts nuts climber I've never seen a **** full out of a tree. well that set me off i spent my lunch brake trying not to look at him because every time i did i would burst out laughing. Weaver harness two prussik loops and a lot of hip thrusting.. The weaver harness is a good thick one and gives you peace of mind when starting up..don't go down the hitch climbing method un till you get used to being in the tree... Distols and vt and mt are for the weathered climber and if not dressed correct will only end up with you laying on your back with 30m of rope on top of you.. Good luck and play safe

That job looks like a 2/3 hour job so £270 and bad my self i would go £300 and state that your trained and show them your tickets and insurance. That normally sways them. Good luck and play safe

old ticket man and a young git being cocky. me i would have given him a slap. the country needs more people like that man to stand up for whats right .and for the people saying would you do the same if the bloke was bigger my answer is yes.... wrong is wrong right is right and if you disagree then your just a coward in my eyes. i hope that git got a dig when the train left:thumbup::thumbup:
