  2. it has to be cost effective for the guy really, and thats all he's asked for up to now.... wants something 4ft and then maintain a good sized 6ft hedge.... its at the bottom of his garden to stop people looking up to his property..... not really ever looked into planting different species as usually people just want conifers..... but i suppose beech etc will be a lot more expensive? hawthorn may be a possability or even laurel... but it doesn't want to be that fast of growing it needs a lot of attention..... whats this 5 sp one? you have any examples of what species etc?? Cheers
  3. Evening all, i have a job comming up where i am to remove some horrible conifers that have grown out of all proportion and to replant new ones.... The plan is to remove old conifers just cut to ground level, then replant the new conifer hedge a few feet back. The conifers also live under the canopy of a sycamore.... so just hoping they can get enough light and not grow like the previous ones.... sycamore is a tpo tree. Any way like i say i'm planting the new conifer hedge a few feet back, so i plan to dig the holes, use an axe to chop any old conifer roots up and plant new conifers in with some compost, also put a layer of mulch down. Anything else to consider or is all of the above the way to go?
  4. really could do with some pictures please
  5. haha!! got you! great stuff
  6. just because they don't make the stihl 361 anymore doesn't make the 346 better lol two different cc saws i'll stop now before it gets into a stihl husky debate....
  7. how would you retreive it though when using a false anchor, wether a cambium saver or a device..... it wouldn't feed through the krabs to catch the shackle to pull it out of the tree??
  8. For the price, they cannot really be knocked... its horses for courses and they for sure arn't a 200t, and would neither be purchased to replace one lol
  9. not sure what you mean on the last bit lol
  10. yeah i thought that... think it will just be a typing mistake, especially when it says petrol on the listing and the little box bit above..... same spec as the ama, 0.9kw and 25cc etc..... some people have been after little saws like this and i seem to remember someone testing out the ama a while back??
  11. Just spotted these cheap top handle saws bit like the ama Just thought some may be interested, these may be use once and throw away jobs lol item number: 160690819711
  12. yup thats what i thought
  13. Under cut, then top cut made outer means the branch will fall level/flat, watch out for fibres/branch tring to take saw sometimes. under cut and then top cut made in board is classed as a jump cut i think as i remember when i did the course, branch springs forwards a little when fibres break
  14. Working with people who mess about or don't want to work, people with no work ethic for smooth flowing working day, Working with/for arseholes
  15. when subbing at the weekend for a firm i was still dug in deep with the 14" bar on a 16" stem on a sycamore takedown with the 200t then went to the 064 then felled when it was small enough to fit into a gap
  16. Whats the best security for a towable chipper thats stored outside? Any suggestions? Whats best wheel clamp etc and what other things can you have for security? Cheers Chris
  17. Why are the prices so high? its crazy!! Been looking on ebay at transits etc and people want like 3450 for a 52 plate transit with lots of miles on it!! Might have to keep the ldv a bit longer! Was hoping to buy a transit or iveco start of next year.... 04/05 maybe 06 but they still fetch 6k on an 06 reg. is there anywhere else to look other than ebay and autotrader?? Cheers
  18. my old vermeer 620i was brilliant!
  19. have i missed it?
  20. climbing in trainers and jeans lol you would have thought they'd want to get used to saw pants and boots how they feel and grip....
  21. when do we suspect this to happen? obvioursly a rough, very rough guess lol
  22. I love my 200t with 14" bar.... can't see why you'd want anything bigger/ more numb up in the tree such as a rear handle 200. You can take a hell of a lot down with the 200t then switch to the 660
  23. Why is everyone complicating things? i use my wire core flip line with prussic loop thats it... i use both hands to shorten the line and one to make it longer lol i even have a crab at the other end of the flip line so i can use that end aswell if i want i realise there are mechanical devices out there but i'm happy as i am i was even given a petzl grillion and don't really use it
  24. ahhhh thank you
  25. where is this ring supposed to be then? is it from when the fungi "pops" open? cheers
