  10. yeah just been looking at some website's and it says 80.00 refresher etc..... its just the 400.00 just for the pts that gets me, i know its probabily not the best work..... Don't really fancy it to be honest.... hmmm
  11. anyone help with this?? info etc induction is tomorrow
  12. Evening all, I've been ringing around a few companies, and one has phoned me back saying there is an induction for work on the railways with a company...... Obvioursly you will need to do the induction, this doesn't guarentee work as the company i've spoke to hasn't yet got the contract with the railway. Then i would have to do the pts course.... (if the company got the contract) Of which i was told it was 400.00?? and i would have to pay for it... and if the company doesn't get the contract i've got an expensive pts qual with no work for it..... I've also heard that the pts will need renewing every 5 years is it? at an additional cost? Is there any information anyone has about the pts? Is it worth it? Its like buying work to me if i need a ticket to do work for this company, of which they didn't mension the wages....

  16. Its unbelieveable the amount of knowledge you guy's have I spotted a bracket a while ago that i suspect to be Inonotus hispidus on an ash, its been there for a while and had darkened a lot in the time it has been there, its black now, This is a large ash and it also has signs of fibre buckling/ compression on another large limb, Also spotted some fungi on the ground near to the stem, these have now gone black and have all wilted and fallen over. Sorry for the de rail just enjoy looking at these threads Keep up the good work

  19. you need to find out WHY is seized in the first place.... no oil in the fuel? air leak? etc then if you've found the problem, check ebay out for a pot and piston (if avaliable) and if its financially viable if so you should have a little fun on your hands
  20. Hi there, I have been asked to just "cut back" some ever intruding japanese knotweed. nothing fancy just cut it back. I have not seen the garden etc as its som 30odd miles away but am due to look soon. I have never really dealt with knotweed before. What i am asking is, is there any special ppe to wear when doing this? sounds from description from customer like a hedge cutter job, will this need special cleaning etc after use? also would it be best to change clothe's straight away after the job and when home put straight in the wash? I do not want to transport any of the knotweed back with me or off site on either clothes or tools. I have done reading and know that it is a controlled waste and should not be removed off site unless be authorised removal people. Not sure how the customer usually disposes of the waste as of yet. Also seen that i need a license to burn it if that was the route to go down, but also it would have to be properly dry to burn..... so would it have to be left covered up? Also is it worth putting some roundup or glyphos on the cut stems (not injecting just spray) any other help appreciated Cheers
