  1. Evening all, Just a quick querie...... where does everyone get there dead eye slings from?? For attatchment of pulley also friction device I take its a case of shop around due to the prices of them?? Cheers
  2. there arn't many more bargins left on ebay anymore with regards to chainsaws etc.... its usually trhe place for people to get rid of there old machines for good money.... there are now and again a few bargins to be had though, but i would be very wary......
  3. i'm afraid that your area is saturated with loads of tree workers.... both in and out of yellow pages No wonder there's not much work round here...
  4. no but these things are out there to help and help you to become more efficient...... i don't want to behip thrusting all the time.... all that exertion when there are systems out there to provide less friction etc..... whats the point being pre historic??
  5. exactly, this is what i said at the start : "what i'm thinking of is what friction hitch/setup to go for"
  6. same as mine
  7. i'll have to have a look, probabilly just the leather as theyre very tight to get in!!
  8. i still put the 200t into the saw ring at the back but i have a crab at each side of my hip so i can just pull the saw up and clip it up whilst moving around..... then i just clip all the rest of my gear to them red straps at the back (tape slings etc)
  9. what size of friction cord would be used with my climbing line which is a yale xtc for the hitch climber 8mm or 10mm??
  10. i do like the blakes also i did but a new split tail and used it a few times but at work use someone else's gear provided and thats prussic, pita when jams etc.... Just wanting to get away from the body thrusting malarky
  11. yeah just checked 70 or so miles
  12. well it used to be classed as yorkshire i'm over in sunny barnoldswick
  13. if going for the hitch climber, which is the one to go for? the one with the brass bush or the one with the bearing, are there any pro's or cons for both??
  14. was thinking of some sort of foot ascender.... don't know the terminology as haven't looked into them...... but on long ascents its whatever helps is good!!
  15. someone was telling me some climbers with experiance have even been on less than 100 a day... theyre taking 90 a day...... which to me... i think i smell something
  16. yup my current day rate as a climber is appauling
  17. thats also what i think, i do not have as much experiance as most on here but 100-120 is for a mediocar climber surely...... not someone with plenty of experiance, supplying own kit and getting shafted by fuel expences and taxes like everyone else!!
  18. Evening all, i know this subject has been covered quite a bit..... PLease don't take what i say out of context when i say "i want to speed my climbing up" I do want to speed the climbing up but i also want to have less friction etc and possibly self tending etc.... i consider prussic to be good and adequate for most stuff but on some tree's i know there's easier setups to have. I usually have a pulley at my anchor point if its a good sized tree but this is usually fixed..... i'm going to have to look at a retreivable one.... what i'm thinking of is what friction hitch/setup to go for i like the look of the hitch climber, you can also attatch the saw to the centre hole Setup is not too dear on the pocket Or using the pinto and a friction hitchalso quite cheap Or using a spiderjack/lockjack of which i have never used or seen..... more expensive but if i were to be more efficient when ive got used to it, it would outweigh the cost..... any advice on which to go for?? got a slack'ish week next week so thought i could order up and get used to something new cheers for any input thanks chris
  19. sub me in
  20. where abouts are you ?? not just north west
  21. is it still retreivable like that though??
