  7. yeah still do this, although have changed to a 5m split tail insead of the 3.5m one. I have 37m rope for most stuff, 10m rope for smaller tree's when no point coiling up the excess metre of rope + carrying it etc!! and the 5 m one 5m split tail is about 20 or 25 quid from f r jones and son
  8. Thankfully nothing on the bench at the moment Sure the 200t is still playing up with the needing choking to start after turning off but its ok and earns me loads!! Just sold 2 saws aswell so feel better Maybe the answer is to sell them all
  9. One thats not been said yet is the 024! If kept sharp is a belter of a saw! I have 2 of these and they're brilliant! One day doing some conifer bashing was using the stihl ms261, when that ran out of fuel, was passed the 024 fueled up. My god what a weight saving! Felt so much better! Don't discount it! 024's are bit cheaper than the 026 and are professional saws!
  10. When i was taught i didn't use a main strop/side strop, i used a 3.5mtr split tail and used this as a second line. So when you throw your main line to branch 1 and you get up there, you don't have to used side strop around branch, waste time and then unhook main line, waste time and throw main line up to branch 2. You can use main line to branch 1, then throw little line up to branch 2, dissconnect main and prussik up to branch 2. Only use side strop/flip line for take downs thats it.
  11. sit back and keep your hands off your rope or clutching your friction hitch, look around, realise i don't need to keep hold of my rope all the time, trust your rope
  12. your right its crap
  13. I run one. If its a crew cab they are crap for ground clearance!!! Cost me roughly 130 for the new fuel tank and 70 ish for fuel and filters etc.... My 2.8 is flat and i prefer my ldv 2.5td transit engine for power and pulling...
  14. Think of the money..... erm sorry, once you've set up your line/saftey system your away, and after you've been in the tree a little time it gets easier to go further out etc..... You know what you have to do and concentrate on the job If its a big one and your taking it down and your getting to the end of the day, all your bothered about is doing what needs to be done to get it down. And in the end you get paid

  19. They will check your credit rating and want a deposit.... I started off with a vermeer 620i woodchipper... rated at 5" but wouldn't take it! It would do 3-4" though and was a great chipper! i paid 1700 for it, used it for a year and got 1700 back for it!! Some people don't have great experiances with 2nd hand chippers but others do..... Good luck
