  1. Im sure you can do it without perfectly well but the bury would make a sweet stiff eye especially with a bit of shrink wrap. I think I'm just going to bring my pinto and build a ropeguide there too mate.
  2. :001_tongue:Haha you may aswell be climbing on a micro pulley and a tape sling:biggrin: have you seen the pictures drew posted of a ropeguide made with an endless loop splice, pinto and a prussic loop, looks nice and minimal.
  3. Good video that, saw it a while back and thought how could i not have figured that out for myself! Duh..
  4. Good effort Ewan! I need to get some splicing in!
  5. Sounds like you have massive balls... Or you just didnt have it adjusted right. I have a tree magic and find it very comfortable. But it did take me some time to find the perfect setting.
  6. Second rob on the airstreams. I honestly think they are worth that little bit more. 20 quid more is under £2 a month more money over a year. They are THE most comfortable boots I have ever worn.
  7. Thanks for all the replies. Will look at the sip progress Ewan
  8. Thanks, they only need to last me 6 months while I am away so they are looking good
  9. Bump, any updates on the longevity of these trousers? Im looking at getting some type a trousers for my little trip to oz.

    Massaria

The company I work for perform "GMS" ie dead dying decayed lift and occasionally a light thin on planes (which we work on a lot). We are in central london and do some the trees david mentioned for the royal parks. The GMS along with an inspection is done every 2/3 years as far as I know. Almost every plane I have been up since I started with them has had one or two branches with topside decay from massaria... Is it a big problem in terms of the overall future of the trees? Or something that planes can cope with ok? Sorry if this is a really basic question..
  11. I expect to see one finished and in use when I get there!!
  12. Looks like a nice handle mate. Looking forward to seeing yours. Got my visa for Oz yesterday! Be over in November hopefully!!
  13. Just a heads up to anyone looking at this. Graham is a great guy to work for and you will have some top banter.
  14. 68kg.. I'm only a whippet
  15. I had a similar issue with mine. The small retrieval balls should fit through a pinto or a cocoon. You may just need a smaller shackle which then has more chance of running up the line on a fast descent and moving up to the sheave of the pulley..

    Slackline

Yea they are bloody good. Last time I had a go I couldnt move more than about 3 steps before falling off!!
  17. I guess even if it does wear a little bit, you can always tighten it up again. From what Softbankhawks was saying at the show the Uni is better for lots of up and downing. Whereas the wrench is better moving around more like DbRT. Good fun anyway thats for sure. The wrench seems cheaper, built to last better and simpler than the uni to me. As it isn't for life support does it need a CE mark? Or is that irrelevant because its not life support?
  18. Only cos Pauls uni is nearly worn through! haha
  19. I had a go on softbankhawks' zk-1 at the Arb show. The thing is amazing. Im pretty sure it isnt life support so if it failed you are still attached as skyhuck says and you could just pop a munter below your hitch and get down on both. Im still using my wooden one The adjustable one looks better though.
  20. get a new one and reuse the old one as a root saw?
  21. After reading this thread and needing new boots, I took the plunge and bought some airstreams. All I can say is these boots are great and I haven't even broken them in yet!
  22. Rope rocket is cool I can see what you are saying about the uni.. Could you not use the squeeze mode rather than the wrap? I don't know how good the control would be then:confused1: Awesome photos:biggrin:
  23. Unicender surely for that sort of work? Up down up down and no need to switch over to drt when you get into the canopy. 100m of rope and a Uni, pantin, hand ascender and footloop?
  24. The best way to keep tangles to a minimum when retrieving is to attach the throwline to the large eye of the pulleysaver before you go down, Or when you install it. Then just drop the bag of throwline out of the tree. Its much easier than climbing back up to tie a throwline on before retrieval. Alternatively tie it on to the eye of your line/retrieval ball and have it looped over the branch about 4 times. You need a really long throwline for that..
