  1. Like that, very nice. I've still got that cedar sat at the yard if you want it, gonna get sliced up if there's no better use for it.😊
  2. I normally split five or six cube per year for myself with the fiskars but have held off knowing a splitters on the cards, no doubt it'll come out for the nice straight stuff but after a days graft I fancy mechanical help.
  3. I'd rather be on a splitter than an axe all day tbh. The novelty of an axe soon wears off
  4. You certainly notice it if you take one down on a busy road
  5. I was told or read somewhere that leylandii filter 4x as much pollution as London planes, is there any truth in that or did I dream it?
  6. Ta Any other suggestions of tried and tested machines greatly appreciated.
  7. Ta. I'll have a look on laptop later Any one else?
  8. Sorry I'm sure it's been covered before and yes I've used the search button but can anyone recommend a small splitter with its own power unit. We're struggling to give away our wood so instead of paying over £50 to tip a trannie load we've scrounged a bit of field and are going to split a few for our regular customers. Budgets about a grand and won't need to be mega powerful as the knotty stuff will still get dumped. Thanks
  9. I'm sure someone more helpful will be along soon Laetiporous I believe
  10. First one looks like cytisus battandieri second eleagnus Prob wrong though
  11. It's a bit pricey though. £36 for chip. About £60 for log. Transit size
  12. If ours wasn't so heavy I'd have strapped it to the roof of the car and taken it to the festival this weekend, our £40 aldi trolley only just survived.
  13. Little street tree near me, barks obviously different but similar foliage
  14. Don't think cotinus (smoke bush) has a smell but cercidiphylum (candy floss tree) smells sweet/sugary in autumn. Can't see the pics on my phone but there may be confusion here.
  15. When I bought them everyone was singing their praises and saying the stihls were gutless dump, then they started to disintigrate.
  16. How long do we have to wait? Should I not bother replacing them yet?
  17. We've got three like that, some pollock (me) put all their eggs in one basket and bought four of the plastic piles of dog poo.
  18. I really struggle to get any hardwoods properly dry in suburban surrey and have found I need to keep it out for at least two summers to get it below 25%, I can get them in full sun but the airflows just not there to get them dry. Gotta get my bum in gear and build a new store at the front of my house where its a bit more draughty but still cant see apple, beech, oak etc being ready after one year. Big field with no 6' larchlap round it is what I need.
  19. I'll try and slap some on but am a bit under the cosh at the mo, should I recut the ends if I do
  20. Been down about 2 weeks Is starting to split a bit unfortunately House was built 1930 so guess the tree was same age
  21. Dunno if it's worth a courier, but I know Jon's taken some stuff over for you before. You don't get many this size though
