  1. Ha Been there. Had to delete the app in the end. Now it's "love you all the time " by the Eagles of death metal, so catchy I keep catching my 7 yr old daughter singing it.
  2. I've informed the forestry commission but haven't heard any thing yet. Nothing I've googled on the canker stain came up with anything as severe as on these trees but hopefully I'll hear something soon. Some pics of removed dw
  3. It hasn't been inspected further yet but someone's due at some point, I've been promised the results so will post them when I get them.
  4. I thought I'd include the resin as its all in the bottom 50cm of the stem as is the other discharge and I'll let you know if I get any more info, it's our last visit to the site today an I'm hoping to catch the fella with the picus so hopefully he'll have an idea. I'm a bit surprised by the lack of interest myself especially as many seemed to want the forum to stay more on topic.
  5. Not a lot more info other than fresh frothy discharge overnight and there is a slight fermentation odour if you give it a good sniff. No signs of physical damage, loose bark or holes. Think someone's coming with a picus tomorrow so that may reveal more.
  6. I agree 😊
  7. Yes it's killing the grass, I'll have a closer look at the holes tomorrow. Ta.
  8. No signs of any cracking or loose bark, the only thing I thought was amiss is the lack of buttresses' that are evident on the other three local cedars.
  9. Yep. Forgotten what a proper computer is.
  10. Will we be able to swipe photos up to return to the text rather than touching the top of the screen to reveal the "done" button that my fat fingers miss.
  11. As far as I can remember there were no problems when I last saw them 2 or 3 years ago when two suffered pretty severe failures (snapping out at about 10 ft) from what I can remember they were thought to be a dodgy batch that were imported and we recommended removal due to previous failures .
  12. Bump.......
  13. Does the location make any difference ? Took a couple more pics today if they're any good Any ideas appreciated. 😊
  14. Barnes
  15. We have some young planes with quite severe cambium dieback, seems to start at ground level travelling right up the stems causing entire branches to die. Sorry pics aren't the best but was a bit rushed and the sun was in the wrong place, can get more if needed. Ta
  16. Not sure how long it's been like this but does anyone know what's causing this seepage? Looks like the soil may have been raised to me but if so not in the last 14 years. Looks pretty healthy otherwise.
  17. I used to do it on eBay, I filled one of those crates landscapers get their stones in and sold it as unseasoned and ready to split firewood, did it as collection only and worked quite well until all the locals were stocked up. One guy travelled from somewhere ridiculous, Devon I think (I'm in Surrey) for a load of oak that was standing dead when I took it down and took about a ton in his hatchback, that prob would have gone well in the overloaded thread. Think I averaged £20 a crate.
  18. Yep you're right enough there much better suited to Mrs Miggins Connie hedge and funnily enough we lost a guard and the bracket today. I'm an employee though and he who pays the wages likes to keep it all in house, most of our stuff simply doesn't have the access for a bigger machine.
  19. Used to use an rg50 at my last place, missed that baby today that's for sure.
  20. If I had to yes but would use the little Dan equip in preference, same engine on a smaller chassis a lot more user friendly than that behemoth
  21. Fortunately the pleasure was shared
  22. Probably had 6 solid hrs on it today with another 2 tomorrow with a new set of teeth, it was on a nice slope so one side a foot higher than the other and buttresses full of crap so getting it low enough was fun too.
  23. Should have subbed it out really.😦😦

    Pigeons

Thanks for the input but I don't think we'd get away with much more than a catapult given the location. We're giving it a go so hopefully the nice new patio will be saved.
  25. They'd have been better cutting it right back to the main stem, yew hedges regenerate much better that way. It is a shame really but public footpaths aren't the right place for a hedge even if is a nice one, looks like only just enough room for a double buggy or wheelchair to me even though it's been cut back. Not read whole thread btw 😊
