  1. oops cheers for pointing that out, bit embarassing
  2. all i learned at college was the prussic method. when i first found this site and read some of the climbing threads, it was all gibberish! i think the reasoning is that the students are taught to climb with the most basic methods, so they have a "foundation" of skills to build on when they leave. of course, i would have much prefered to have learned some more techniques from my college lecturers, than self taught from the internet! maybe an overload of information and techniques at an early stage would result in more accidents, that might be why they dont teach some stuff?
  3. just stopping by to show you my galls, (i assume they are galls) on several young oak trees in a woodland.
  4. sounds interesting, im in EDIT: hama, im not a member of WAB, so can you just send her my email address for contact?
  5. perhaps it should read, "...and to provide customers with only the best tree practices" good site

  7. hahhaaha just imagine that sequence of movements speeded up to the benny hill theme
  8. haha! thats some whiplash claim lol
  9. to put it another way: arbclimber giving us professional marketing advice for free on this forum, is the equivalent of us doing tree work for free, just to be nice. so credit where credit's due, i think (not trying to ruffle any feathers btw, you know what they say about arguing on the internet... )
  10. And im not sure what this one is... there were a couple of loose pieces of this fungi scattered around the area, i originally thought it was polystyrene or something until i found it growing on a log... Any ideas?
  11. some recent finds... including Polyporus squamosus, some Trametes and some Ganoderma.... probably not in that order!
  12. how about the "putting the visor and ear defenders down" movments? try it, it makes sense...

  18. im with HSBC but as i have only been with them a couple of months, i can really give much of an opinion, sorry. i can tell you though that the first 12 months is free, if that helps.
  19. the NatDip is a two year course and includes work experience during the summer between year 1 and 2. during the course you will gain the basic NPTC qualifications as well as all the other academic work. this qualification allows you to start entry level inspections/ surveys. although as arbclimber said, if you already meet the requirements for the degree theres not really any point in doing one of these lower courses.
  20. haha
  21. im thinking, a localized strain of toxic laeteporous! Possibly damaging its new host tree via the toxin, as well as the decay! Possibly accounting for the 10% (?) of people that experience an allergic reaction to Laeteps! maybe....
  22. a National Diploma in Arboriculture would give you good all round knowledge of both the practical and academic side of things, leaving you plenty of options for what to do next.
  23. you know what they say, great minds think alike!
