  7. spiral cracks can be caused when a tree which has grown twisted is "untwisted" by a change of wind direction (imagine twisting a rope the "wrong way"). apparently this rarely leads to failure. of course more information (pics, targets etc) would help

  11. they are found in "clusters" according to my sources who knows, Mycena are too hard, gimme a Laetiporus!
  12. i went for galericulata because of the size, they are apparently the largest of the mycena.

  18. no, no and no. you got the deadwood hint though- we are dealing with a saprobe i should have been clearer with the mushroom hint- by this i mean "classic" mushroom shape, "stem and cap" style. not a bracket carry on...
