  1. Pretty sure the grants are only available towards the cost of gasification and pellet boilers, not stoves. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. About three miles as the crow flies from here... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Don't know what happened there, anyway, yes, included removing old hearth and fireplace, setting and rendering the new alcove for stove, fitting, register plate, co detector, certification etc. there was two guys and an apprentice and they were here three and a half days all told. 4. I paid about 1600 for fitting but that included removing 70s stone fireplace, lifting the hearth, Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. We paid a tenner an hour when someone looked after hours, but that was basic mowing and weeding only. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. I was going to call in and get one of the stud detectors, damned thing kept beeping when I got within 10 foot though so I had to give it a miss... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. I work in an office. Closest I got to being out in the elements was the walk across the car park... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Tell them you were buying beer... L Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. It's already been said, but... It's worth whatever someone will pay for it. Probably less now than in February if we have a cold winter. Or more than come next April if it is mild... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. A car boot load of lumps of knotty part seasoned euc, currently getting bid on. Unless someone has got a mechanical splitter they're going to be in for a sweaty (and sweary) experience on the big chunks! And a couple of years to wait for it to season; by the fact it hasn't got any natural splits yet... Bargain! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231045031901?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_sacat%3D0%26_from%3DR40%26_nkw%3D231045031901%26_rdc%3D1 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. A farmer friend of mine got pulled years ago pulling a cattle trailer behind a Landy. The inspectors had been through his trailer and found a few beads of sheep sh17 and had a go because he'd got cattle on board and hence "had not cleaned the trailer properly". He was duly unimpressed, but then they told him they were going to dip his diesel tank. Farmer was adamant that this was not happening as long as he was drawing breath and inspectors were of course adamant that they were going to dip the tank. After a few rounds of this discussion, farmer pointed out that the Landy was (you've guessed it) a petrol... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  13. I've used it to both buy and sell when we lived in Germany. Never had a problem but I was only buying smallish stuff - bikes, a bike trailer, selling some furniture when we moved back etc. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Two pints of lager shandy made with full sugar lemonade. And a pizza. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Out for a stroll this afternoon and found a walnut tree laden with fruit. Miles off being ripe yet, but I was just wondering when they might be ripe? Similar sort of time as chestnuts, horse chestnuts etc? I.e. mid October? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Good crop on my tree, some sod trimmed the eating apple tree at the end of the street though so not much going on there... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Plagued with caterpillars on the broccoli and cauliflower plants. Been squishing the eggs and caterpillars, don't want to spray with chemicals as the veg is on the plants. Any suggestions? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. I learned too late what I thought was a brilliant option... Secondhand slate beds from snooker tables on eBay, bugger all money (pardon my French but I was gutted when I saw the price and realised how much I'd paid for a couple of basic chunks of quarried slate). Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

Called in this afternoon, shepherd neame "Tapping the Admiral" on at 99p for a 500ml bottle. Just had the first one out of the fridge and I reckon I'll be going back soon to get a box or two... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Seriously, though, it's not pretty and the foundations look a bit flimsy - but is it load bearing or just a yard wall? If the latter and all it's got to hold is it's own weight, then I'd rate it as having a chance of standing for a while. Can't see what's at the top of the wall from the pics though... 21. Can't see anything wrong with it that a 14lb sledgehammer and a few hours wouldn't put right... ;-) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Might nip back and have a butchers today... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Saw one in my local Countrywide store yesterday, £39.99 instead of £69.99. Worth it? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Well seasoned euc, alder and oak. Burn all three together and it's a great mix of heat in short, medium and longer burn. But really just about anything that looks like I was once a tree, is dry and will fit in the stove... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Looks like a bargain, if only it was nearby... ;-) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
