  1. A farmer friend of mine got pulled years ago pulling a cattle trailer behind a Landy. The inspectors had been through his trailer and found a few beads of sheep sh17 and had a go because he'd got cattle on board and hence "had not cleaned the trailer properly". He was duly unimpressed, but then they told him they were going to dip his diesel tank. Farmer was adamant that this was not happening as long as he was drawing breath and inspectors were of course adamant that they were going to dip the tank. After a few rounds of this discussion, farmer pointed out that the Landy was (you've guessed it) a petrol... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  3. I've used it to both buy and sell when we lived in Germany. Never had a problem but I was only buying smallish stuff - bikes, a bike trailer, selling some furniture when we moved back etc. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Two pints of lager shandy made with full sugar lemonade. And a pizza. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Out for a stroll this afternoon and found a walnut tree laden with fruit. Miles off being ripe yet, but I was just wondering when they might be ripe? Similar sort of time as chestnuts, horse chestnuts etc? I.e. mid October? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Good crop on my tree, some sod trimmed the eating apple tree at the end of the street though so not much going on there... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Plagued with caterpillars on the broccoli and cauliflower plants. Been squishing the eggs and caterpillars, don't want to spray with chemicals as the veg is on the plants. Any suggestions? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. I learned too late what I thought was a brilliant option... Secondhand slate beds from snooker tables on eBay, bugger all money (pardon my French but I was gutted when I saw the price and realised how much I'd paid for a couple of basic chunks of quarried slate). Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

Called in this afternoon, shepherd neame "Tapping the Admiral" on at 99p for a 500ml bottle. Just had the first one out of the fridge and I reckon I'll be going back soon to get a box or two... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Seriously, though, it's not pretty and the foundations look a bit flimsy - but is it load bearing or just a yard wall? If the latter and all it's got to hold is it's own weight, then I'd rate it as having a chance of standing for a while. Can't see what's at the top of the wall from the pics though... 13. Saw one in my local Countrywide store yesterday, £39.99 instead of £69.99. Worth it? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. Well seasoned euc, alder and oak. Burn all three together and it's a great mix of heat in short, medium and longer burn. But really just about anything that looks like I was once a tree, is dry and will fit in the stove... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Looks like a bargain, if only it was nearby... ;-) Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Did someone mill all those boards in the background using that?! Be a contender for Tour de France I reckon... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. I got given a metal watch years ago, good quality one. I have worn it for sawing, building work, you name it. Face is a bit scratched and it's lasted about 10 years but the strap is giving up the ghost now, lots of the link pins have worn out. What about something like a nurses watch, where they are designed to pin to your shirt? Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  24. Apparently it's easy to grind down and nice and fine once done. Having burnt some and seen how it forms a nice bed on a normal fire I can see why. Nice firewood if a bit quick burning. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
