  4. i was speaking to a contractor who was debating gaurding his tractor but he came to the conclusion after alot of research that the guarding made it to heavy for feild work and made it a pain as the raer windows can't be opened
  5. i have used posch and dallen machines and found the posch truely awful to use in comparison the way the logs have to roll into the splitter made it a nightmare on hardwood or even the slightest peg the controls were very poor ergonomically and the splitting function isn't even automatic whereas the dallen is increadibly ergonomic one handed control making it much qyuicker asweell there is a straight drop into the splitter which means it gets to the splitter as it should most the time unless the log is increadibly bent and the splitting function is automatic saving time the dallen is also very well built and very simple also i would say a log deck is a must otherwise using the processor is no quicker than seperate machines and a log deck requires a machine to load

    Repainting?

you could try krylon paint as it meant to melt into the plastic and is desighned for assault rifles so shouldn't comeoff
  13. i think there the same as tarmac use aswell the ones tarmac used are not preprogramed but calculate the vibrations themselves are are meant to be attached to anything used even when being transported in the crew bus or using a leader and when your daily or weekly limit is reached its tools down and desk duties or sent home
  14. i am currently at plumpton and the short course lecturer is great they also cover alout of stuff as i don't know what the prospectous says but all the current short course people have also done chipper and mewp i don't know about the short course but the rest of the course get a discount from any outher nptc quals we want tlike telehandler tractor or brushcutter
  15. thats why circular saw with a conveyor parked up next to the end of the splitter work best as you pick the billets up of the table and put them straight in the circular saw or maybe it would be an idea to look at saw that has a table on top as well as the normal rocking craddle so that it can deal with really bent stuff
  16. we had to do this research for a college assighnment and what was expected to be the answer is a large horizontal 4ft self loading splitter and a pto circular saw the only way of making a processor fast is to have a log deck when dealing with larger timber and with what u describe this wouldn't work

    new processer

i have only used dalen and posch machines and would deffinately recomend the dalen there so easy to use and are well built across the two types chain v circular saw the circular saw models are best on soft wood as any slight bend and they jam where as the chainsaw doesn't in my experiance get jammed as easily also chains can handle larger diameter timber but other than cutting speed maintanence seems about the same time wise but circular saw costs more as you can't home sharpen either way its easier just to run multipli chains\blades
  18. the problems with the oil caps don't appear to happen if you use the auto fill spouts on the combi cans i don't know whether its because the tank isn't overfilled or if its because thers less spillage for muck to get stuck to and clog up around the cap
