  1. Gave myself a dead leg for 3 days after hitting a stump flat out. Felt sick when I did it. It's a lot harder to manage moving stems with a brush grab anyway but still an improvement for using your own backs.
  2. So we finished the site today before the high winds and rain appeared.
  3. Just clarifying what I'd written that's all.
  4. iMovie unless you've got some money then Final Cut Pro is the best thing I've ever used.
  5. True, but the solicitors did contracts to keep them self employed. Plus they said something about it becomes they have 2 jobs and extra tax. All above board and not illegal.
  6. I don't think it would take much to guess. Hahaha
  7. Yeah some have been 5m in height. I did raise my comments on the specs but they said they want to do the work as per the survey.
  8. A few from today if all goes to plan the large workforce will have covered 126 man hours on site. The work were doing is for a new cycle path although I did wonder if a lot of the survey work was to create work. It just seemed some of the reductions weren't really needed. But hey ho if I didn't do it someone else would.
  9. Blimey more than I guessed.
  10. No, no, no you've read it totally wrong. I have 3 employees not including myself. so they are under contract anyway. However i have 2 subbies that are contracted to us for 1 day a week each over a 6 month period. It guarantees them work and myself the knowledge that the jobs can be completed when booking work in x amount of weeks ahead. As part of this contract it is made clear i am not to be used as their only employer as i cannot offer them full time work and they take responsibilities for themselves finding other work. It mainly covers me as freelancers can be douche bags!!! for instance not turning up for work. This allows me to invoice them the full amount of their day rate plus any additional costs ive incurred. I got fed up with these all rock-star wannabe climbers wanting top dollar and basically me being the only one screwed out of money if they double booked or forgot, even sleeping in. It always seems the guy whos finding them the work and investing money in kit to make their life a bit easier seems to be the only one loosing out. Its just my experience as a contractor that if your not tough you could go bust through no fault of your own.
  11. Bloody hell! Cracking picture of it on the houses.
  12. I use written contracts do kind of get round it. But only because I have 3 employees now so they never do the 75% ish anyway. More contract work than freelancing really.
  13. Awesome pictures and stunning houses simon. God I'm envious of your kit. Testament to the hard graft you do.
  14. Reducing a hedge higher than a terrace house. Working on a very steep slope called Devils drop. But the views were awesome of the city. You can see the two cathedrals too.
  15. How much material did you have from the job?
  16. Big old brute. Nice pics.
  17. If I'm through and struck with the debris I can get 21hrs out of mine. Which is actually a lot of chipping. Mostly I get 16hrs. On the plus side a set of blades isn't exactly expensive.
  18. Nice set of pics josh. Makes Norfolk feel tropical.
  19. If I didn't have the use of this one now I'd snap it up. One of the best grinders I've seen in a while. Old and full of power.
  20. That thing is a beast, it's my mates grinder and has a 4ft sweep.
  21. Sunday club. Some highways work then a bit of grinding with this beast.
  22. Nigel sent me the new rubber there using as I had sent him some honest footage of the original rubber being bad. Good to see he took it on board and rectified it super quick.
  23. Yeah my work wouldn't suit a tractor. But you can get a lot of tractor I. Comparison to my skid steer.
  24. Yeah it easily covers it's costs. If I was buying one again it would be an 800tx for the extra 150kgs weight it can do a lot more.
  25. £17,600 + vat plus delivery and any grapple you add to it. Then finance on top. I posted a bit back of what mine costs exactly. With finance over 5 years plus a few grabs I think it's close to £30,000 to be honest.
