  1. Quicker innit...its boring as sin stuck on the splitter as its constant when there is 2 of you, most productive way we have found to do it though.
  2. With small stuff like that 30 mins max, i had lad who works for me splitting & me loading logs moving cages and we did 25 in 7 hours no dicking about though. No just 1 way, its only 10 ton splitting force, it smashes logs no probs, theres a few knotty ones that you have to get on the edge of the blade but it still fires through them, its actually 2 handed operation, theres not only me uses it so it has to stay like that way for fear of lads cutting digits off. You could rig it so its 1 handed though, it wasnt cheap but its paid for its self this winter already, really productive machine if your doing firewood as a side line to tree surgery.
  3. Scum rammed a friends garage door in the middle of the day 3 times before it gave way walked in took disk cutter his sons motorbike, tried starting his but couldnt get it going. his 86 year old mum came over and said what are you doing, set off and nearly knocked her over! they moved over 200 roof tiles that were stacked infront of the door before they rammed it! all caught on cctv police said they cant do owt!!!
  4. Yeah thats a bit steep for what it is! does look handy though.
  5. This is our Uniforest road tow, we have made the table a lot bigger and also about 12" higher, is superb now we have modified it
  6. Ah, sorry my brain couldn't make sense of that! Prob should get to bed. Do riko manufacture the trailer themselves?
  7. Eh?
  8. Does anybody have the fast tow trailer on riko website? Or know of 1 similar, what are they like? Look really versatile.
  9. If the uk government stopped sending hard earnt taxpayers money abroad in aid relief and spent it on flood defence in our own country it mite not be half as bad!
  10. So you can actually drive a machine straight on whilst the body is tipped up? how much does it overhang by?

    Ideas

You will never be rich working for someone else, you will never be that rich doin tree work! you will be better off financially providing you put the work in, my life has revolved around work the last 5 years but ive built the business up and up. work is there if your good enough to get it. be under no illusion that working for yourself is easy its bloody hard work, i had loads of people trying to put me off and no end of arguments with our lass but im 32 got all my own tackle mortgage almost paid off, save up make the jump dont look back
  12. That looks like a useful machine, i was going to say them daf wagons are high for hand balling logs, but you wont be doin much of that with the crane on did you have to cut the body down to mount the crane?
  13. As above. hope the link works. Not many about second hand. brian james cargo tipper trailer | eBay
  14. Ive a 2004 90 crewcab tipper, it does the job and thats it! being reliable just a few issues that come with age, i would never get another 90 though way under powered especially when towing.
  15. Its peanuts for what it is tbh, down a quietish lane with horsie folk, as long as wind is goin right way we burn all sweepings no bother, we are fairly quiet down there. it did have pigs on before and i have spent a lot of money putting hard standing down, making storage sheds for logs etc, but id like somewhere closer to home where i know it cant be taken away from me. None of its legit though so all good things...
  16. I pay £25 a week and rent from a friends mother! its roughly 2 acre half has scalpings down, weve put pole barn up etc, dont wanna throw more money at it though. I know 1 day when she goes family will sell it for building.
  17. True that John, but i know what the land was purchased for and my offer was 4 times above, and also above the market value now! got my eye on another bit atm got a few trees on it on headland with road access, mite be worth a punt.
  18. I've also tried this but farmers around here must be rolling in it and have turned over the top offers down.
  19. Bloody el that's dear! I found local council to be cheapest, works out @ £3 a ton collected.
  20. Not having a pop or owt dude. Peoples perceptions of tree work is different we sometimes get asked to hammer trees in an effort to save the customer money, even though you have advised them against it. In the right situation there's not much a crown lift crown thin wont solve, or fell and replant. " in the right situation"
  21. I never suggested my work is better than anyone's, that's just the way you interpreted it! Imo I would be hard pushed to get away with removing such a small amount of off a tree and leaving the customer happy after spending x amount of £££s. Most trees we work on have either had the top knocked out and there's not many options other than to remove eppi. Or are unsuitable for crown reductions. In the real world very few customers accept the less is more rule of pruning and insist on "giving I a good hair cut" be it the right or wrong thing to do, I try and let them make an informed decision about the options they have available. Not everyone can afford to throw money pruning a tree on a yearly cycle.
  22. I bought a new tr6, had a problem with electronic control unit but first sent engineer out to replace the unit, being fine ever since. I seem to fund the blades awkward to change over and a bit fiddly, other than that not a bad machine.
  23. No being rude but I don't think I could get away with pruning like that around here.
