    Torque =???

    I understand torque is the pulling power, i just dont know how much difference 75nm of torque would actually make, or what to compare it to.

    Torque =???

    I am going through the motions with a new van, i have 2 options 1 120 bhp 300nm torque 2 150 bhp 375nm torque & add blue It will spend its life overloaded and towing like every other arb vehicle, so the more power the better...but...what can i compare the extra 75 nm of torque to? the power of 75 cats pulling it? or 75 rocket engines or anywhere in between? If the difference is hardly noticeable then id rather not have the extra cost of ad blue! any ideas?
  5. issues?
  6. I feel guilty if im caught on the sofa during working hours
  7. Do you get much work for that machine?
  8. How many people work in inclement weather? I know some jobs are doable but others...scratting about up a piss wet through tree in wind and rain ain't my idea of fun! You ruin gardens dragging brash and cant clear up properly. Do other people feel the same of am I just getting soft:001_smile:
  9. Rained all night here, raining a bit now and gusty wind! Second time I've put the same job off now!
  10. If i made it would probably look like a turd, i know my limits Whats cabstar like? they seem to offer a fair few engines that dont need ad blue.
  11. He said service metals.
  12. Cabstar? looks good, do service metals manufacture also?
  13. Its nearly 10 grand for the body alone, bear in mind the truck is around 24 grand, thats nearly half the price of the van itself!
  14. Was that built ontop of the original tipping body? Brit-tip insisted they made the whole body from scratch, a rough cost to shorten the existing body was £1800! Found a few local to me builders i am going to try. What hp is your nissan? grafter comes in 120 or 150...the 150 needing adblue.
  15. This is what i have recently got quoted from Brit-tip to build a complete arb tipping body & tool locker on a Grafter...some of it seems a bit steep??? 17. Your lucky if you've never hit a nail in 6 years! My greatest find was an electrical conductor and huge metal bracket, along with no end of nails further down! We ended up leaving a 3 foot section rope around it, pulley in next tree lifted it with chipper & backed van under, still sat in yard now! You cant account for every eventuality, sometimes its just how the cookie crumbles! QUOTE=Dorset Treeman;1404197]I've been really lucky that in the 6 years since I went it alone, we've had no problems with metal/stone in trees. That was until about 3 months ago. Unfortunately in the last few months I have had 3 incidents where the trees have been riddled with the stuff. So much so that one job it put half a day on it, one job it added a day and a half (it was an 8ft diameter beech) and another job it added a day. On these occasions I have had to take the hit financially as I price by the job, not a day rate. I now need to write a condition into my quoting to cover such events, as I can't keep taking such a financial hit, but I'm not really sure how to structure it. I wondered how others in the industry were tackling this sort of thing? Thanks in advance, Alan
  18. Theres some good ones on there, cant see if any of them tip though?
  19. What's the name of the firm who makes the 1 in the picture?
  20. Depending on the size of the towing vehicle and or the size of the machine going to site, it could go on the vehicle use it to load up and go tip off. It could get places vehicle & forwader cannot! Nothing is perfect I suppose its about choosing the most versatile set up...or buy everything you want!!!
  21. Joke innit a 6 year old van with 50 tho on clock wont start if its stood a week! Got an 04 transit with 115 tho on, starts first time every time never faffed with battery.
  22. It is dear but its a multi use trailer...with a small crane! Cant help thinking a mini skid steer & tipping trailer would be more versatile.
  23. Its only stood for around 6 days, battery is less than 6 months old, its a pita
  24. I've got an 09 plate ford fiesta van that I use for quoting, I put a new battery on around 6 months ago, when the van has being stood for a while the battery is as flat as a fart and won't start, its as though something is draining the power! Any ideas?
