  1. Pros...looks impossible to cut your fingers off. Cons....seems really slow and or unproductive.
  2. Different colour lol... We have got 1 of their splitters and its a sound machine, its £1400 inc vat & pto & delivery.
  3. we used old skip sheets i got for nowt, it worked.
  4. Got this info from Riko about Uniforest. · Fully welded construction, not folded metal and bolted together · x2 Standard V belts for drive and these are available almost anywhere as spares · 700mm tungsten tipped blade which has a 30cm cut (not 25cm like most others). These can also be sharpened/re-tipped · Its required to be run at 350rpm on the PTO, a lot of the others on the market require 540rpm burning more fuel for a smaller cut. · Wheels and handles are standard for easier moving about when off the tractor · Rollers in the trough and on the extension bar to allow the log to move across easier. · You can retrofit a 4 or 5 meter hydraulic conveyor to the SC models
  5. Wouldnt fancy using that after a night on the raz!
  6. Thanks for that i will look into them Balfour ones.
  7. I can get 2 20 foot ones in John and still have room to move, ive heard stories of hinges being cut off an all sorts, when they have finished here i will get them took to the yard so it would be nice to get them super secure.
  8. I need to get a shipping container at my house to secure my tackle while we build an extension, it will go down the yard when its finished so i don't wanna hire 1. With so many getting broke into there must be a way of securing them? i have seen the mobile mini ones have concealed hinges and a hidden locking mechanism but are like hens teeth second hand!
  9. Ive seen lots have the option of a conveyor, do you have 1 on yours? i know its more money but less work i suppose
  10. That looks really efficient
  11. Do they throw logs about that much?
  12. What HP is the tractor your running it off? our David brown is rated at 50hp off the pto when it came out the factory.
  13. Good man
  14. To me they are all pretty similar, it comes down to... Safety Build quality Cost I do like the Oxdale but the build quality of the Balfour looks nice Uniforest looks good too
  15. Correct me if i am wrong but the design on the balfour one looks like you would physically have to hold the log while it gets cut, compared to the oxdale which has a wide deep u shaped bench to hold the log! mine will be used by employees so also has to be safe as can be.
  16. I like the look of those, if its owt like the oxdale splitter we had it will be solid.
  17. What model is that? do you find it easier / more productive than ringing up?
  18. The various ones i have seen on youtube do seem to be really productive, all though the majority looks like you have to hold the log which defeats the object of having a guard! There's a few hundred ton to go through so i don't really wanna buy cheap.
  19. I was thinking about running it off our old db tractor that is now sat idle in the yard, I assume a pto version would be cheaper still. What's Balfour tackle like?
  20. Imo it doesn't look very robust.
  21. I am thinking about buying a circular saw bench to try and make life easier cutting up, currently we are just stacking timber on the floor and go at it with a chainsaw which is productive but tiring after a period of time. Uniforest? Posch??? I have never used 1 before so any info would help.
  22. Haaaaaaaa that's priceless, god knows where you found that beauty
