  1. so its 7.5t towing vehicle with a trailer up to 4.5t gtw not exceeding 12 tonne. I paid for my class 2 on my own back but the council put me through c1+e wish id of done the c+e instead! Its still 4 tonne up on my 3.5 tonne tranny
  2. Sorry pal 107 code?
  3. I have just come back, no traffic at all for us! trickled in steady away through the gate, there was a lot of stuff there, not much big machinery though. Went to see Riko and to look at a Uniforest splitter, was well impressed
  4. If i am towing, which i will be i am limited to 12 tonne GTW as i have C1+E, so although this crane talk sounds a good idea i think realistically it will just kill my payload. Their is very few jobs we do where i could crane big lumps out in 1 anyway, most have to be cut up and hand balled anyway.
  5. Dont need cpc if driving is not your main duty, as in i drive tools to work site to work ie climb trees
  6. Thought about that but its just more hassle, 1 lad cant drive and the other has a car licence but is 17! it would kill my insurance & he would need to do a trailer test, rather go down the 1 vehicle does all route
  7. i have class 2 so can drive a vehicle not exceeding 32 tonnes also i passed my C1 + E which is towing vehicle and trailer not exceeding 12 tonnes, so if i got a 10 tonner i could only legally tow 2 tonne which isnt enough for tracked chipper & trailer. Can you down rate a 10 tonner to say 9 tonne Must admit i drove an old mercedes and that was hammered by loads of numpyts and it never broke down, ever. Do u have an iveco?
  8. Really? grafters & canters can carry 4 tonne
  9. I think something that big would knacker us for access on some jobs, think its a compromise between size and payload
  10. ive got class 2 and my C1+E only me driving it so that's not an issue, old or new? after starting out with second hand crap i now have all new kit, this is the last thing i need to buy, don't like buying other peoples tackle really as it doesn't last as long, i look after my stuff really well so have no issue spending 40 grand on a new vehicle because i know i will get my moneys worth.
  11. Got to the point where my transit van is not efficient enough to be productive, we can fill it with chip in 10 mins! it has crippled our work load this week and spent more time back and forth from site tipping off I got my O licence through last year but never got a vehicle, i looked at a few Mitsubishi canters but heard they are not that good. Not sure where to start looking, 7.5 tonner? 10 tonner?
  12. In my experience they always knock you about when driving, ive always changed them over.
  13. I managed to tip off at some stables, but would prefer to find a few other places.
  14. Anybody? 1load of chip and or logs lime.
  15. How do these work? i must get 3 phone calls a week people yakking about fuel cards, whats in it for the company issuing the card?
  16. I am thinking about the future, i don't wanna be killing myself up and down trees when im 50, much prefer to sit on a mower. I suppose its a case of jumping in and seeing how it pans out, £25 an hour doesn't seem like that much to me, not if you want to make some money
  17. We are going...does anyone know what time it opens?
  18. Dewalt for me...get a decent 1 with a metal gearbox as the plastic ones are pap! had this 1 18 month and its been hammered and is still going strong
  19. My TR6 has being a brutal machine when it comes to mashing brash up had a faulty control unit when i got it but Forst sorted it within the next day and its being fine since. Only thing i don't like about the machine is the way you have to change the blades seems arse about tit and a bit fiddely other than that good machine
  20. What is the frequency that you cut the grass? or does that depend on how the client wants it to look,
  21. I have the opportunity to get into grounds maintenance on a few industrial units we do tree work for, i have always turned it down in the past but now i have another lad working also it would be nice to have a bit of regular ish money coming in. I have done a lot of grounds maintenance in the past as an employee but have never priced it as my own job. Question is, is grounds maintenance a profitable thing to be involved in? around my way every tom dick & harry seem to be out mowing grass! not exactly rocket science.
  22. Can i come work for you
  23. Looking for a place to tip log & chip in Sheffield close to S2 4DR.
  24. There was a time when i worked on the council if we found a needle we had to ring and report it and somebody would come out and dispose of it, not anymore! we had "training" on how to handle them/dispose of them. Your employer has a duty of care to ensure you have the correct ppe & the equipment to safely dispose of them. If your risk assessment identifies the hazard then control measures should be implemented, being carefull aint enough! We used to find them in the bushes around a kids playground every time we cut them!
  25. I need to speak to the to and ask why he wouldn't allow the other work, it would of being a slight improvement for the hotel.
